Hollywood Is Loving This Minimalist Hair Trend

Blame the fact that we might not be able to rely on Mariah Carey for our cheer this year if you must, but this holiday season is starting to feel like one where we actually want to do the most. Glitter? Give it to us. Ribbons? Tie 'em up. Velvet, tartan, and themed sweaters? We're here for it all.

Perhaps that's why it's so surprising to see Hollywood flock to more minimal trends lately. Simple hair accessories, like pearl-studded bobby pins and tiny crystals, have been seen on everyone from Kate Mara and Yara Shahidi to Kelela, who rocks them with her locs. Granted, keeping your hair low-key in December is an easy way to let the rest of your look do the talking, but it's also a foolproof way to go from workday to holiday shindig.

However cheery you're feeling, there's something fun and festive ahead for all your holiday parties — and all you have to do is put a pin on it. Click ahead for all our favorites.

Can you hear the slay bells ringing? This topknot, featuring a base studded with silver Kela hair accessories, would look killer with an equally-sparkly eye.

If you don't want your tousled low-do to look sloppy, then try slipping on a piece like the Hardware Ponytail Piece from Jen Atkin's fourth Chloe + Isabel collection.

The most exciting aspect of this trend is that it works for all hair types. If you want to stick a few beauties from the Multi-Crystal Pin Set (these are from Atkin's new collection, too) in your 'fro, just make sure that your hair is moisturized to avoid snags.
