With hundreds of shapes, colors, fabrics, and styles, ranging from smoking slippers and boat shoes to traditional penny loafers (with a twist, of course!), there are loads of options for ladies. We think the loafer is a little less precious than a ballet flat and way more sophisticated than a sneaker — a balanced foundation to any casual summer outfit, really.

And who knows? After you've made the loafer integral to your summertime rotation, he might be the one seeing green. betseyjohnson-brritney-79

Model and Food Blogger Jessemey Bank Spent The ‘80s Dancing To Grease (Just Like You)

Believe it or not, it’s been 30 years — an entire generation — since GUESS’ original, three-zip Marilyn jean put their mark on fashion forever. To celebrate, the brand is going back to its roots with a new campaign featuring the star of its classic ads, Claudia Schiffer, and releasing a limited-edition line of updates on their iconic pieces. To join in the festivities, we snapped 30 of our favorite fashionable friends wearing the vintage-inspired 30th anniversary collection and asked them what GUESS means to them. Thirty women, 30 days, 30 sexy years of GUESS.

For more about the collection and GUESS’ 30th birthday, go to www.GUESS1981.com.

Name: Jessemey Bank

Ten-second bio: "I’m from New Zealand and live in crazy NYC. I’ve been modeling and traveling all over the world for the last 10 years, and now blog about food (because I love it!) at Model Seat."

Jessemey_Bank

Favorite ‘80s memory: "Dancing to Grease. I was Danny and my cousin was Sandy, then we’d switch. Also, my mum dressed us up in cute homemade '80s outfits… I remember my mum having a perm, too."

Favorite GUESS memory: "I was still only a little girl, so I’m not sure if New Zealand had GUESS right away — though I do remember that GUESS used the most beautiful girls in their campaigns."

Favorite returning ‘80s fashion trend: "Converse shoes, cool, washed-out jeans, and leggings with cute tees."

Chill Out: 3 Cool Summer Cocktails You Can Whip Up Right At Home A tall glass filled with a chilled, potent concoction — preferably one that actually tastes like summer. And when we're the ones pouring the drinks for our pals, we want to make sure to serve them something that's fully in the spirit of the season.

So, to master the summer cocktail, we tapped bartender Brad Witucki of Old Town Alexandria's Virtue Feed & Grain to give us the skinny on his favorite seasonal sips and show us how to concoct them at home. He let us in on one of the biggest warm-weather trends in mixology — beer cocktails. Dubbed "hoptails," these concoctions are light, fizzy, and refreshing, while still delivering layers of flavor. So, gather up some fresh citrus and a few bottled brews, and follow these recipes to make some seriously cool summer libations. 09_DSC_2401-copyslide

Sneak A Peek At James Franco's Off-The-Wall (& Must-See) Art Exhibit here, here, and here). You could even call him a Rebel Without A Cause, non? Fittingly, his latest foray into the art world, Rebel, pays an oddball homage to the 1955 James Dean flick.

JF has always had a fascination with the icon, and even portrayed him in a TNT movie years ago, snagging his first Golden Globe for it. He says, "I was always told that I look like James Dean — well, after I got braces for my buckteeth and went through puberty." So, all things considered, it's no shocker that James drummed up the concept for this wacky warehouse-style display with several other edgy artists (our favorite, Ed Ruscha, included).

Since the mid-century motion picture explored so many taboo topics, you can expect to see some electrifying works, including violent videos, sexual sculptures, and some pretty profound fixtures by the actor himself, too — there's even a motorcycle floating in a pool! We highly suggest any fans of this classic screen gem, historical heartthrob, or modern day radical, hit this show for a trippy treat. And even if you're not jonesing for either James, admission's free!

When: Tuesday, May 15 through Saturday, June 23; Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: J.F. Chen, 941 North Highland Avenue (near Romaine Street).

The Ultimate Cheat Sheet: How To Meet A Facebook Millionaire Facebook is going public in the next few weeks, with experts saying it could be as early as this Friday. What does that mean for the Bay Area? Obviously, a whole lotta cash flooding these parts. And while the behemoth’s IPO, which is rumored to be the largest in history weighing in just shy of a cool $100 billion, is certainly great for Zuck and company, what do we get out of the deal?

Well, since the city will be full of newly minted multi-millionaires, how about dating one? While we don’t openly condone gold digging, if you did want to increase your chances of landing a Facebook dude, we won’t be mad at you. In fact, we’ll help. We’ve tapped a few reliable sources from inside the company to help us create a little cheat sheet of where Facebookers hang — both in the city and down in the valley. Single ladies, divide and conquer.

Chipotle, 2675 El Camino Real, Palo Alto (near Ventura Avenue); 650-462-9154.
(If you strike out here, at least you can still get a burrito bowl.)
Palo Alto Sol, 408 California Avenue, Palo Alto (at Ash Street); 650-328-8840.
Rudy’s Pub, 117 University Avenue, Palo Alto (at Alma Street); 650-329-0922.

500 Club, 500 Guerrero Street (at 17th Street); 415-861-2500.

If you are really serious (and slightly stalkerish), here are a few master tips:
-Find out where there are Quora meetups. A lot of previous Facebook employees work at this question-answering social network. Just because they aren’t at FB anymore doesn’t mean they don’t have stock options!
-When a Facebooker leaves the company, they are thrown a going away party at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at The Old Pro, Nola’s, or Nut House. Traditionally, folks leave about 4 years in, on the dot, and some of those leaving might be millionaires. Just saying.
-Become a fan of Facebook band South Hero and go to their shows; you’re sure to find plenty of worthy candidates there. The next show is Sunday May 20 at 8:00 p.m. at the Rockit Room.

Captured: Your Most Stunning Music Festival Snap!

For our Captured: Your Most Stunning Music Festival Snaps contest with Smashbox, we sent you forth into the Indio sun with one objective: Find the best, most eye-catching example of festival fun and Instagram the hell out of it. Mission accomplished, style soldiers!

During the two weekends of music and madness in Indio, 500 of you submitted your hot, hip images with the #FestivalSmashbox tag collecting a total of 17,961 "likes" and exposing over 100,000 Instagrammers' eyes to all that captured beauty. No small feat there. Respect.

Of course, only one image could lasso the prize of two VIP tickets to any 2012 music festival, round-trip airfare, and a travel bag stuffed Smashbox beauty essentials — the stunning, sparkly crowd shot taken by iPhone photog Ms. Farris Green of Los Angeles. Take a look.

Now, let Farris tell you about her weekend at the fest:

"This year, it was a mix of group dance parties as it sprinkled rain, dancing/huddling in the crowd to break from the wind during Radiohead, and dancing like a crazy woman during Justice's performance on the main stage on the final day (which is where I took my winning photo). Oh...and who can forget that freakish Tupac hologram... Definitely danced to him, too!"

Sounds like fun, Farris. Just remember, next year’s ticket to dance is on us!

Crash A '90s Party At The Versace Mansion, Thanks To Vault Magazine most luxurious new title, Vault Magazine. Meant as a collector's item, the quarterly publication covers fashion, party-going, and celebrity with lush full-color pages and heaps (and heaps) of style history.

Since Barton G. is the brains behind The Villa (for those non-Miamians, that's the hotel that is based in Versace's old mansion), one of the best spreads of the debut issue imagines a group of youngsters crashing a rager in the manse's gilded halls. New snaps of socialites and designers are mixed with vintage photos, and the Versaces themselves make an appearance in this time-bending editorial. Shot by Roxanne Lowit and featuring vintage jewelry from C. Madeleine's, this is a 305 shoot through and through, letting readers get an instant, Medusa-themed contact high (with a young, handsome Mickey Rourke!). The entire folio isn't all Magic City-based, but this flamboyantly beautiful, hedonistic pictorial makes us glad to call this place home. And maybe do a quick shot or two?

Was Designer Menswear In The '50s Edgier Than Today? dudes in hot pants instead. Actually, this film found by the Pathé Fashion Archives (God bless their souls), isn't as straight up silly as it may seem. Not only does it display how — sigh — intimate fashion shows used to be, but it reveals evidence that menswear designers were attempting the same feminine silhouettes and challenging cuts that Jean Paul Gaultier and John Galliano would delve into 50 years later. It may also mark the menswear runway debut of John Cavanagh who — despite those swim trunks — went on to some acclaim in (surprise) womenswear (note that the narrator calls him "Dale Cavanagh" in the film). Finally, check out that punk nailhead belt. We wonder if Vivienne Westwood was a Cavanagh fan... (Pathé Fashion Archives)

Slip Into Opening Cermony x Soludos' Newest Collab

While we're all about flip-flopping this summer, sometimes we just don't have time to grab a pedicure worthy of an open-toed shoe. That's why we're kind of obsessed with the ultimate (and budget-friendly) collaboration between an R29 favorite, Opening Ceremony, and the über-cool, cute, and comfy Soludos.

Even the fabrics are super-unique and range from raffia weaves, neon seersucker, and perforated leather — perfect for that new bikini or that Chloë Sevigny dress you've been obsessing over all season long.

At $35 to $45 per 'drille, there's no excuse not to add one (or all) to your summer rotation. Shop the full collection in Opening Cermony stores or online now.

This Is Our Jam: Amalie Bruun "Siren"

You’re likely aware of New York via Copenhagen musician Amalie Bruun, even if you don’t know you know her. For starters, she plays in indie pop band Minks, who toured with Dum Dum Girls, and released last year’s quite-good, By the Hedge. She’s also an actress who was featured in the SNL Lonely Island parody video “Jack Sparrow” (you know, the one with Michael Bolton), where she played “Jenny” to “Forrest Gump.” Oh, and Bruun starred in a Chanel commercial that Martin Scorsese directed. Not bad. Yet it wouldn’t be nearly as impressive résumé if Bruun’s solo music wasn’t so good in itself. Fortunately, Amalie Bruun’s latest single, “Siren,” from the upcoming CRUSH EP, is a great addition to her oeuvre. The track mixes ‘90s alt rock guitars with dream pop vocals, and manages to sprinkle in just a hint of goth. Seeing how prolific Bruun has been thus far, we imagine that we’ll be hearing more from her quite soon. Check out the darkly beautiful video below.

How One Little (Fendi) Bag Changed Sex And The City Forever Sex and the City with labels, labels, labels — Manolo, Jimmy, Dolce...the list goes on. After the second film (and that infamous $10 million wardrobe), it's easy to forget that the show actually had (relatively) humble beginnings. In Rizzoli's new book, Fendi Baguette, feting the rerelease of six of the Italian house's iconic arm candy (out June 1), Sarah Jessica Parker describes how the little wardrobe department that could became a veritable treasure trove, thanks to one mini handbag. "In the very beginning, [stylist] Patricia Field and her team had to be industrious and creative with a low budget by getting clothes from thrift stores in order to tell interesting fashion stories," Parker writes. "At this time, things were inaccessible and out of reach; Fendi was really the first important design house to loan us items, with the baguette handbag being the first."

Sheer Madness: Charlize Theron And Kristen Stewart Play The Matching Game

Sure, we may try to laugh it off, but deep down inside we’re pretty devastated when we’re at a soirée and suddenly a “she stole my look” moment rears its ugly head. So, we can only imagine how Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart felt when they both arrived at the Snow White And The Huntsman premiere donning crazy-similar gowns (uh oh!).

Maybe it was the movie’s dark theme that inspired both gals to opt for long, sheer black dresses — or maybe they planned it. Who knows. We’ll probably never get to the bottom of the matching mystery, but it looks like the ladies had a lovely time, either way. However, we do think this warrants a “who wore it best” poll, no? Have at it — take to the comments and fill us in on whose version of the look you like better.

A Recipe For Casual Drama From Jewelry Designer Annika Salame check it out why don't you), offers a few tips on how to bring drama to even the most minimal blue skirt. Enjoy.

AnnikaSalame

Annika Salame, Designer, by boe

"My 'go-to' outfit right now often involves a raw silk, floor-length, blue skirt I had made locally. Last summer, I wore it with flat gladiator sandals and a white blouse-y T-shirt. For this look, I added a metallic tank from Zadig and Voltaire, and my current obsession, Alexander Wang booties (I wish I could walk around in them every day). I love the floor-length trend — the way you can dress it up or down.

"When I'm going out, I like to start with one dramatic item and use that to build on. It can be an item of clothing, a pair shoes, boots, or an accessory. If I’m in more of a laid-back mood, maybe it will be a vintage Sri Lankan traditional top. If I'm in the mood to look cool, I'll throw on high-heeled motorcycle boots from Stella McCartney.

"I like to mix textures; silk with knits, silk or knits with leather, silk with jeans. Right now, silk always seems to be in the mix somewhere, but it’s all about a natural balance — it has to feel like 'me.'

"I usually start with my current basic stack — a by boe wrap bracelet and a leather wrap from Smith and Butler. For this outfit, I added a chunky, vintage bronze bracelet to counter the drape-y fluid shapes of the skirt. If my clothes have very simple lines, I like to add multiple stacks of jewelry. For the combo on my other hand, I’ll stack a silver ring from St. Kilda and the City Ring from by boe. As you might guess, I love picking out jewelry to match my clothes."

Our New Summer Must-Have: A Fruity, Femme Body Wash The last thing you want when it's hot and sticky outside is a fragrance that's equally oppressive — the ideal summer scents are always light and subtle, offering up just a whisper of olfactory intrigue. In fact, on some truly steamy days, we just want to smell clean and freshly showered (probably because we feel anything but).

Our new go-to for that just-washed aroma? Soap & Glory's new Foam Call body wash. The rich, creamy formula lathers up nicely and works well as a shaving cream in a pinch, and the new "Fruitigo" fragrance, with its notes of yuzu, orange oil, green fig, and pomelo, leaves skin lightly scented with a tropical essence. Even though we don't typically go for fruity fragrances (we're more the musky-woody type, if you're asking), we've found this one to be pretty irresistible. The best part? It'll last all summer and it's a multi-tasker — two things we can really respect in our beauty goodies.

Soap & Glory Foam Call Body Wash, $16, available at Sephora.

Gap Redefines The Classics For Fall & Inspires Us To Plan A Mall Trip Gap doesn't disappoint with its fall '12 collection. The line gives us exactly what our wardrobes will need next season (and for not-so-many dollar signs).

Even without former creative director Patrick Robinson at the helm (they're hiring, people!), Gap still manages to reproduce timeless pieces updated just enough to keep the final effect low-key and no-fuss. You can always count on a striped shirt, a perfect trench coat, on-trend jeans and button-ups for days. But, what stands out most in this lookbook: the surprising new classics (because if Gap is doing them, they're definitely classic). We're talking printed cropped pants, the drop-waist denim dress, and loose-fitting boyfriend jeans and khakis. While we don't want to toot our own horn here, we definitely predicted some of these trends would make it big and Gap, you've just confirmed it!

The Worst Post-Date Texts We've Ever Read (Courtesy Of Williamsburg) enthusiastic texts soon after, and was kindly brushed off by Candice. However, Mr. Fedora refused to take "no" for an answer. In increasingly rude SMSs, Mr. F escalated from, "I don't want to waste my time," to the classic "your loss," to an outrageous message "meant for someone else" calling Candice a "5.5 out of 10" and bragging about another promising date with "Nancy." Candice didn't respond, resulting in Mr. F letting her know the message was "not about [her] at all" and that he hopes she is well.

Naturally, Candice sent screen shots of the offending texts to Gawker (thank you technology!) and now we can all get a virtual taste of the wonders and perils of NYC dating. But really, what are we supposed to do with the other six days Girls doesn't air? (Gawker)

How To Get Great Legs: 5 Tips We Swear By We're loathe to admit it (we've been neglecting our squat thrusts at the gym), but it looks like summer '12 is going to be the season of the leg. Sure, there's always been lots of skin on display in the warmer months, but after Angelina Jolie's thigh-high slit at the Oscars, and Anja Rubik's pelvis peep show at the Met Ball, it's clear that designers are upping their game and bringing legs front and center.

Great news if you hit the genetic lottery and have mile-long stems, but for those of us with less-than-lengthy limbs, the thought of revealing them can cause major dread. While it's easy to disguise your legs in the colder months with slimming and lengthening black tights, there's nowhere to hide come summer.

But fortunately, there are a few sneaky tricks you can employ to make your legs look, well, leggier. We asked a panel of experts to dish their secrets to getting your gams in prime condition for summer's tiniest short shorts. Read on for their best tips, and get ready to step out with confidence.

Today's Brush With Hotness: David Beckham At The White House David Beckham himself is landing in the District for a quick visit. In our (apparently) weekly dose of British hotness, Becks and his L.A. Galaxy teammates will tour the White House — a prize they secured by winning the 2011 MLS championship.

No word as to whether Victoria Beckham will join him in a little Washington sightseeing (oh, how we'd love to spot the pair on a duck tour!), but if you've got a major crush on the tattooed dreamboat, you'll probably want to keep an eye on Twitter today for potential sightings. (DCist)

Lena Dunham Celebrated Her 26th Birthday At Spin Class lena-op Birthday parties, like bachelorette parties and baby showers, oftentimes are more of a pain (for guests) than a source of joy. After splitting a $1K brunch bill, finding yourself squashed between two distant cousins of the birthday girl's on a party bus to Atlantic City, and then taking your first post-college Jello shot, and having to repeat that nearly every month, ad infinitum….it all gets a little old.

With that in mind, we have to say, Lena Dunham, we appreciate you thinking out of the box, but think of the guests, please! For her 26th birthday, the Girls creator took her friends to spin class at NYC's Soul Cycle, an enlightening, transformative workout (if you can avoid passing out).

For $34 each, birthday guests were treated (ha!) to a 45-minute, 500 calorie-burning workout. Wearing a Stella McCartney top and a sparkling tiara, Lena probably gave her birthday guests a party they've never been to before... and with burning glutes and the opportunity to see a sweaty Max Greenfield, the party favors was definitely a mixed bag. What To Wear To SoFi's Newest (And Most Decadent) French Bistro

Some call it SoFi, others say it's the muted response to the chaos on the northern half of Miami Beach, but no matter how it's named, the area south of Fifth certainly feels luxurious. Right on the tip of the city and with views to die for, now there is a reason besides lush scenery to venture, well, south of the Fifth Street border. Opening next Wednesday (which means this is a sneak peek!) La Gloutonnerie is not just a new French bistro, but it's cuisine from Français via Mexico City, of all places. In fact, the French flavors here have a very particular twist, combining the Gallic taste for a touch of Mediterranean with a cozy Mexican vibe. Think fine dining, but with a casual, breezy interior.

Fans of rich French delicacies will be thrilled: The menu includes items lobster risotto cinque terre, steak tartare, rich beef cheek stew, and dozens and dozens of wines (hence the "glutton" in the resto's title). In fact, fans of La Gloutonnerie are encouraged to take the experience home with an in-house market teeming with artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, foie gras, and caviar — meaning patrons can leave with their favorite decadent nibbles.

When it comes to your ensemble, Instead of going all Marie Antoinette, bring a little Left Bank to the point of South Beach. A breathable, bright blazer over a clean and summery white keeps things super smart and ultra chic. Show of your mid-May tan in some adorable and femme tap shorts, but make sure to keep the material luxe so it doesn't look like you're wearing an undergarment. And, while you might be dining in the more refined SoFi, you are still in South Beach: Add a punch of bright aqua to tell the world of your joie de vivre.

La Gloutonnerie, 81 Washington Avenue (at Commerce Street); 305-503-3811.

J. Crew Factory Cavalry Twill Blazer, $125, available at J. Lindsay Luv’s Style Bible Is Desperately Seeking Susan

Name: Lindsay Luv

Ten-Second Bio: A "DJ to the Stars" or a "Turntable Goddess" — depending on who you ask — Boston-born Lindsay Luv holds residencies at the hottest nightclubs and spins every Saturday at the Mondrian L.A. Luv resides in Los Angeles and has DJ-ed parties for everyone from Richard Branson to Rihanna.

Favorite ‘80s memory: "I’m a Madonna fanatic, so I would have to say it’s a cross between the controversy over her 'Like a Prayer' video — I locked myself in front of the TV watching it over and over — or her performance in Desperately Seeking Susan, which became my fashion bible! I actually snagged a vintage Madonna tour booklet the other day that has all these insane pics of her from back in the '80s. LOVE!"

Lindsay_Luv

Favorite GUESS memory: "Their jeans, of course! What girl didn’t beg their parents for a pair?"

Favorite returning ‘80s fashion trend: "Polka dots, black lace, ripped jeans, wearing only one earring, patchwork jean jackets — OMG I am such an '80’s girl! I love it ALL."

What's Wrong With Kate Middleton's Legs? katesleg_1 Nothing actually. As legs go, they're fairly pretty, long, lithe, athletic, look great in a pair of heels, and are handy for getting the Duchess of Cambridge from A to B. But just try telling that to the crazy, crazy editors at the Daily Mail, who claimed "The Duchess's calves looked particularly muscly," when she attended a polo tourney this weekend. Happy Feet: 15 Cool Evening Flats Fit For A Comfy Night Out sometimes an evening chock-full of boogying demands footwear that allows us to glide effortlessly into the ball, across the dance floor, and to the after party without sacrificing our style (or losing steam due to foot pain).

No matter your stature, there's nothing that looks cooler than sauntering into an L.A. shindig (or even a summer wedding) in a luscious cocktail frock paired with fresh fancy flats.

Your Horoscopes For The Week Of May 14

M.Patmos spring '12 presentation Photographed by Nico Iliev

Aries (March 21-April 19)
You will be full of energy in the beginning of this week. However, you will need to learn how to pace and conserve it to stay on course.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
This is a super lucky week for you! If there is a loan or promotion you are looking for, now would be the time to speak up or look into earning extra funds.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)
If you're feeling more maternal than usual, it's because Venus is asking you to revisit all kinds of relationships this week, which may also include extending your family.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
You are learning what it is to be drama-free. Now is time to infuse, replenish, and bring in positivity to every corner of your life so it stays that way.

Leo (July 23-August 22)
This is a low-key time for you, so use it wisely to get your finances, paperwork, and any loose ends that have been annoying you in order.

Virgo (August 23-September 22)
You are such a worrier that you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Take steps this week to put some structure into your life which will ease your worries.

Libra (September 23-October 22)
You've been slacking on communicating with people — lately, you just haven't felt like yourself. This week reach out to at least one person to start mending relationships.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
Let's be honest, the so called "gray" area has never been your thing. This week a black-or-white love situation will need to be dealt with once and for all. Bravery is a must.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
This week you will need a new approach to love and relationships. But, before that can happen, a reevaluation is in order to address how you handle your relationships. This will help you gain a fresh, new perspective.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Take some time to look back and reflect on just how far you've come. The landscape of your life has changed drastically, and most likely, for the better. Work on being gracious for what you have, and not to worry about what you don't.

Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
Now that you've gotten serious about getting serious (you know what we mean), you will notice great strides in the coming weeks. Finally, the tide has turned in your favor. It's been long overdue.

Pisces (February 20-March 20)
This week — more so than ever —you will be able to manifest your special gifts and talents. Pisces manage to straddle between reality and imagination, which is a quality that makes this sign so powerful.

Florence Rocks A.C., Is Just As Theatrical As You Think...But More So Florence + The Machine and Atlantic City to have much in common beyond their love of sequins, but after seeing Flo' shake it out on stage at the Borgata this past weekend, we stand corrected.

Not only was the impressive yet intimate casino stage an awesome setting for her emotive performance, but the A.C. crowd was just as cool and dedicated as any other, hanging on every note and begging for an encore (she obliged).

And what better way for Florence to end the American leg of her tour than by twirling dramatically across the stage in a sparkly black cape over a floor-length ball gown... barefoot? Songstress Marissa Nadler Plays The Blues (And Blacks) For Summer Sets

Sitting center stage, singer and songwriter Marissa Nadler’s fashion choices have to provide enough drama to captivate an audience without overpowering her performance. She ain’t no Lady Gaga, y’know. The perfect solution: Her Striped Crew Slub Dress by Gap. The dark color is right-on for nightclubs and after-hours venues, but the cobalt-blue stripes separate her from the audience with a little bit of electricity. But, even if you don’t have a guitar, pair this number with whatever accessories suit your style and it’ll be the ideal complement to your one-woman act, too. Crazy Early: Coachella 2013 Tickets Go On Sale THIS Thursday Tupac hologram)? Um, that’s probably because it practically was (more accurately, it was a little over a month ago). And as quickly as the mega-music fest came and went — it’s back again (kind of).

Next year’s dates have already been announced (April 12-14 and April 19-24), and tickets go on sale this Thursday. Wowza! They didn’t waste any time there, now did they? Early birds get on it, ‘cause we’re sure the tix are bound to sell out in flash — even though no word of a lineup has been uttered. We’re seriously still unpacking and detoxing from last month’s mayhem, and not sure we can wrap our minds around this insanely ahead-of-time announcement. Will you be snatching up your wristbands this Thursday? Tell us in the comments. (LAist)

We Like Bella Swan's Daddy SO Much More Now Bella Swan's dad (Billy Burke, y'all) had in the Twilight movies will be thoroughly into J.J. Abrams' latest show. They'll also be stoked to see that he has freed his face from that weird mustache. Revolution, set in Chicago, is a look at the world 15 years after all electricity has been wiped out forever (or is it forever...hmmm). Check out the video below and make room in your hearts and couch schedule for a new TV addiction come fall. Don't worry, you're not the only one who notices a certain Lost vibe about the show, and that isn't exactly a bad thing, is it? (AV Club)

Shop Our Girl Lily Kwong's High-End (But Laid-Back!) Looks Lily Kwong's West-coast-meets-East-coast sartorial aesthetic; it's naturally eclectic but doesn't lack an ounce of sophistication. So when we saw that she teamed up with online mag Lifestyle Mirror to style an editorial shoot, we were pretty psyched. Lily sat down at one of our favorite downtown restos, Miss Lily's, for a (double-Lily) photo/video shoot that includes her signature loafers, sweet tunes, perfect summer staples, and (of course) a lil' something something from cousin Joseph Altuzarra. The best part? All of her wares are shoppable, like, now. Check out the adorable video below to learn more about why this It girl really has "It," and then call some of her pieces your own. Oh, and Lily, next time we're enjoying the joint's jerk chicken, well be watching for you...and your outfit. (Lifestyle Mirror)

DIY Saran Wrap Nails For A Perfect, Easy Miami Mani his simple (and we do mean simple) nail art DIY courtesy of mani maven Get Nailed is a cinch...and perfect for the MIA day-to-day.

By using a peachy orange by OPI ("Bright Lights, Big Color") with a contrasting aqua from Orly (in "Frisky"), Chelsea of Get Nailed painted her nails, let them dry, and then used the saran wrap to literally "sponge" on the top coat for a coral-infused marble effect. The result is perfect for a shopping afternoon in Coral Gables (and will even look smart for a night out) — and can be done by anyone who is capable of painting a solid nail. Let us know if you've tried this clever marble-ing trick: We'd love to see the results!

This Is Our Jam: Gold Panda, "Mountain"

London-based electronic musician Gold Panda draws from a capacious array of sounds, yet in his hands, disparate samples become a seamless landscape removed from geographic origin or context. With new single “Mountain,” the eclectic producer takes a droning Eastern melody which he then loops and reconstitutes over a stuttering, jangling beat. Resist the urge to pick apart the pieces and let it flow together as one soft, inscrutable whole; a really good pair of headphones is recommended.

Say What: Does This One Direction Member Have The Moves Like Jagger? We’re jumping out of our chairs just thinking about catching the Jagger-Richards feud from start to finish — and are eagerly anticipating the release date. We caught wind of the news when it was recently announced that One Direction’s Harry Styles is up for the role of Jagger.

Sure, the British boy band is blowing up the charts right now, and Styles actually kinda-sorta resembles Mick, but is he the next Jagger? We’re not entirely sold (after all, those are mighty big shoes to fill). We personally think none other than Andrew Garfield could do the role justice. But, hey that’s just us. What about Keith? Obviously, Johnny Depp would play an older version, but who could rep the guitarist's wild and wacky ways as a young'un? Emile Hirsch? Jamie Bell? We could go on for days. Do tell us who you’d like to see on screen, in the comments below. (Oh No They Didn't)

See The Olympics' Most Vogue-Worthy Dudes Take On Karlie Kloss

Dwayne Wade, Basketball; Photo: Courtesy of Vogue

Karlie Kloss stands six feet tall with a wiry, sinewy build, and comes with a formidable athletic history of her own ("You name it, I've played it!")… but what do you get when you pit one of fashion's strongest models against a variety of sports' strongest athletes? Some physics-defying photos, that's what.

Shot by Annie Leibovitz, six Olympics competitors share their personal athletic epiphanies (most of which include their moms — all together, now: aww!) alongside Kloss, who shows off spring's most high-impact trends. And don't worry about the ladies — Vogue did another shoot celebrating the female athletes we so admire, as well, so check it out here. (Vogue)

Like Buttah: Korres Whips Up An Amazing New Treat For Your Cheeks We'll admit it: Ever since we first swiped Korres Lip Butters on our puckers, we’ve been totally neglecting the million other tinted lip things hanging around our makeup bags. The sheer-but-punchy colors, long-lasting moisture, and adorable packaging are just too cute to cheat on with lesser imitations. And now, Korres is looking to bring that same goodness to our cheeks with the launch of their new Cheek Butters.

These lightweight, all-natural, moisturizing tints are as delightful as they sound and give our skin that elusive natural blush we're always striving to achieve. As a unique nod to the brand’s heritage, the three gorgeous shades are named after the Greek words for love, desire and joy (Eros Coral, Philia Rose, and Chara Crimson) — three emotions we’re feeling now that our cheeks are all glowing and gorgeous!

Garance Doré And Reed Krakoff Give Us Major Summer Vacay Envy Garance Doré. Together with the equally lovely Reed Krakoff Boxer Bag, the two have embarked on an exciting roadtrip together.

Partnering with Krakoff, Doré and her sleek, chic carryall make the perfect travel companions, with Doré grabbing snapshots all throughout their journey. “The pictures came naturally as I was living my life," Doré tells WWD. "Montauk on the beach, New York for Fashion Week, Paris with my love (Ed note: Aw)...so many great memories.” The photo collection, Nomad Chic, premieres on the Reed Krakoff site today and the collection of photos read like an inspirational scrapbook for our own summer adventures outside. And, if we're lucky enough, we'll have our own arm candy (we mean the Boxer bag, not Scott Schuman) along for the ride, too. (WWD)

4 Rad Retiree Habits We Want To Steal While those who believe that Miami is filled with New York migrants and tons of blue hairs in nursing homes are whole-heartedly off-base, the city does have a rich history of retirees settling in droves. And, though senior citizens might not be prevalent in your daily Miami experience, the elderly certainly have plenty of influence around the area. And, dare we say it, style.

Sure, we've improved on certain concepts our elders have missed out on (namely: sunscreen and breathable fabric), but this "leisure life" concept has something going for it. So, we say, let's celebrate our elders and breathe new life into their, erm, old practices with a couple of chic additions and new perspectives on retiree style. To flip the old adage — maybe you can teach new dogs some old tricks...

Opening Ceremony, The Magazine: The Glossy Debuts This August opening-ceremony If the fashion industry were high school, Opening Ceremony might have been tied for Most Popular and Class Overachiever. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have already built their NYC boutique into an international shop, brand, and consulting agent, but will also debut a magazine this August called OC Annual.

Like each wave of shoppables at the boutique, each issue of OC Annual will be based around a theme; and the first issue will be dedicated to the London Olympics. According to an internal memo that WWD received, "As magazine fanatics, O.C. founder Humberto Leon and myself are aiming to create a collectible publication for a new generation, something beautiful and special in the vein of Benetton's 'Colors,' Comme des Garcons' 'Six' and Joe McKenna's 'Joe.' We want to make a magazine that will appeal to kids in Nebraska as much as industry people." Should we also chalk 'em up for Most Likely To Succeed as well? Okay, hear us out. Normally, the idea of being covered in bugs ranks right up there with being trapped in a slowly sinking car or finding a meat man, on the list of things we absolutely don't want to experience in life. But these cute, enamel ladybug pins by Diana Eng have kind of crawled all over our hearts.

Maybe it's because the level of detail astonishes us — they're hand-painted to match 11 different species of Coccinellidae (which you can learn all about on the site) and even the undersides of the pins are anatomically correct. Or, maybe we just love the colorful little swarm they form when a whole bunch of them are pinned onto an outfit — and, alright, maybe we think it would be cool to freak someone out with our faux infestation. But, are we just bugging out here? Would you cover yourself in a bunch of (fake) teeny-weeny insects, or do these little enamel critters creep you out?

Dry Shampoo Blowout: Save Big On Your Fave Summer Hair Staple dryshampoo Few things make us feel more pumped up than a sleek blowout, but waking up to limp, oily hair the next morning always leaves us feeling a little…down. We’ve all heard that sudsing up only two to three times per week is best to maintain healthy, moisturized locks, but what about all those greasy days in-between? It's all about dry shampoo, people! And just in time for the hot, sticky months ahead, right now when you spend $24, you’ll score $40 to spend on DryShampoo.com, the aptly-named hub for the best powders and aerosols from Klorane, Oscar Blandi, and more. Reserve it! http://www.refinery29.com/dry-shampoo-sale?utm_source=feed&utm_medium=rss entry_31634 Sat, 12 May 2012 16:00:00 -0400 Confirmed: Linda Evangelista Is Not Human Dlisted, we've now got proof that supermodels are in fact not human. Because this is what Linda Evangelista looks like with a perm.

The 47-year-old (!!) made the same mane mistake in her senior class photo that most '80s children had the misfortune to wear (and be photographed in) during The Decade of Bad Beauty Choices. Unlike us mere mortals though, Linda manages to rise above the bad 'do and still look gorgeous. We're sorry, but we refuse to believe anyone could look that smokin' hot while wearing what looks like an electrocuted poodle on their head. If this woman isn't from some race of glamazon E.T.s, then we're officially just going to stop trying. (Dlisted)

U.K. Style Plus Peruvian Craftsmanship Equals One Hot Miami Brand Pitusa's beachy basics come from the mind of a London-raised designer, are rendered in colorful, fair-trade fabrics from Peru, and claim residence here in Miami. This means, if you were counting, Pitusa can cite its origin in three continents, but designer Clara Lago has chosen the 305 for the main base of her line's operations. With bright, warm weather-ready separates and maxi-dresses, the line possesses a bevy of influences, from London street-style to Peruvian-inspired "kimonos."

The young ingenue (Clara is only 24) sent us over her most recent lookbook, which trades in Miami sun for a dramatically dark and foreboding sky. Against the gray and stormy backdrop, each of her colorful pieces get an extra pop (though, not like they needed it, with all the neon and DayGlo detailing, already). The Illustrated History Of The Platform Shoe The history of the platform shoe is long and storied, and it hasn't always been about fashion.

The sky-high shoe assisted royals in dodging Medieval muck, gave Greek thespians a much-needed boost on stage, and was actually outlawed at a certain point. Take a little trip with us as we walk (and hobble) through the history of the platform shoe. Trust — you'll never look at Litas the same way again.

Doutzen Kroes On Why Being An Angel Is Just As Awesome As You Think Okay, so we’re not ones for taking sides, but we do have to say that when it comes to Dutch model Doutzen Kroes — she steals our vote as one of the top knockouts in the biz. Don’t get us wrong, we’re big fans of the whole Victoria's Secret clan, but there is something about Doutzen that we definitely dig. So, when VS held its 7th annual “What Is Sexy?” event and Doutzen hosted — we were over the moon. The “What Is Sexy?” list highlights talent across all spectrums, from sexiest sense of humor (Emma Stone) to sexiest tweeter (Kristen Bell).

And that’s not all. Victoria’s Secret has released a brand-spankin’-new bra, aptly called the Knockout, to coincide with the event. We caught up with the flaxen-haired beauty, who if you ask us, is a gleaming example of the initiative, to talk about her fave L.A. workout spots, traveling, and staying sexy.

What do you think is sexy for L.A. ladies this summer? Any trends you love for West Coast gals vs. the East?
"I love to wear really flowy dresses when I am in L.A., while in NYC I tend to wear a lot of black."

You were able to regain your flat tummy so quickly after pregnancy. Any words of advice for mommies-to-be?
"Breast feeding really worked for me. I also think working out will definitely help. Plus, it gives you a little time to yourself. My eating habits are pretty healthy, too."

What’s your favorite outdoor activity, and what's the ideal L.A. spot for it?
"I love working out hard at Equinox. Plus, whenever I'm in town, I go for a good hike."

How do you manage to keep your hair so healthy?
"I use a hair mask every so often and coconut oil on my ends."

How would you compare the new Knockout bra to other brassieres?
"I love that it is wireless and so comfortable, but it still gives you the best lift"

What do you love most about being a Victoria’s Secret Angel?
"We travel to the most beautiful locations in the world, stay in gorgeous hotels, visit stunning beaches, and work with the best hair stylists, makeup artists, and photographers in the world."

BarIII At The Flea: Hester Street Fair & Green Flea Market WeWoreWhat. This weekend, we kicked off the BarIII Flea Market Tour right here in New York City with the Hester Street Fair on the Lower East Side and the Green Flea Market uptown. Aimee of SongofStyle and I posted up outside the BarIII pop-up shop display ready to style customers and showcase the brand's amazing clothes. For the first day, I chose a pair of wide-leg silk floral pants from the spring collection, because who doesn't love the pajama-pant trend? BarIII offers a ton of vintage-inspired pieces like this one, that can be mixed and matched for any occasion.

On the second day, I wore a floral BarIII romper, pairing it with tights and a vintage jacket. While at the flea, I obviously had to check out the vintage stands and found a few little treasures like this vintage Carolina Herrera blazer. Can you say, awesome?! Combining vintage and contemporary items is what my style is all about, which is why BarIII is the ideal brand for me. Overall, NYC’s flea markets were pretty great — and I didn’t even mention the delicious food yet (mainly the pickles)! Next stop is Pasadena, California. I hear I should save up for this one…can’t wait!

We Talk To Tinsley Mortimer About Southern Charm Socialite and Southern bombshell Tinsley Mortimer is a major fan of Miami and seems to be always popping into town. So, it wasn't surprising that she stopped by Neiman Marcus in Merrick Park to promote her novel, Southern Charm. Yes, the petite beauty is now a newbie novelist on a 14-city book tour. (She can’t believe it herself, either.) Mortimer, who looked radiant in a turquoise bodycon dress with her blonde locks teased into beachy waves and a freshly tattooed wrist (more on that later), talked to fans and autographed books (which happens to be dedicated to her three Chihuahuas). The book-signing seemed more like one big, ultra-femme party fittingly set in the department store’s shoe salon. There was a DJ, HPNOTIQ Harmonie cocktails and bubbly, candy, and plenty of cupcakes. The drinks were all named after characters in her book, which meant we all got a little taste of Southern Charm.

Why did you decide to write a book?
"I was originally going to write a style guide about girly girl dressing, because that’s how I like to dress — with color and frills and ruffles. But my publisher and agent told me told me to write a novel. They said, 'You are from the South, you’re a fish out of water, and you know New York City so well. It’s such a perfect backdrop for a fictional story.'"

Was it challenging to write?
"At first, I thought it was scary and overwhelming, but to write fiction is freedom. You can create these characters and make them do and say what you want. It’s a lot more fun than telling people what to wear!"

We know the book is fiction, but did you use any real-life experiences?
"It’s inspired by a lot of people I know in New York City. They are composites of certain people; I'm a lot of the main character, Minty Davenport, but I’m also another character, Tabitha. My 'mom' in the book, Scarlett, is very much my mom. My real mom is this crazy southern woman who is awesome, but also very annoying and meddling."

How long did it take you to write?
"It took two years. I wrote most of it at home in my bedroom. I had help writing the book with a friend, and I had a great editor."

Inside R29: We <3 Our Moms! Mother's Day is fast approaching. And though you may still be scrambling for gift ideas, we know your love for Mom is undeniable (just speaking from experience here).

In order to get some inspiration for any shopping or card-making that's still left to do, we took a trip down memory lane and dug up some adorably embarrassing throw-back photos, with equally cute quips and quotes to match. Sure, our moms may not love the fact that we're putting their '80s hairstyles on blast, but what better way to show 'em we care than to gush about their support and relive our favorite times spent with them... and yes, put their '80s hairstyles on blast.

Flip through our so-cute slideshow of love to find out not only how much we care about the #1 ladies in our lives, but also, what we looked like way back when, before we became the R29'ers you see before you today. Mademoiselle Carine Roitfeld Stars In A Documentary Carine Roitfeld, will be starring in the new film, Mademoiselle C, chronicling the Editor-in-Chief as she launches the first issue of CR Fashion Book this September (hmmm, coincidence?). Shooting is still in progress, but we're already imagining a few hair-raising and high-pressure clips as deadline for the launch of the publication draws near.

Under the direction of Fabien Constant, Roitfeld has been shadowed for the past months (in and out of the office). It's also reported that the film crew has interviewed other big names, such as Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, and Donatella Versace, to speak on the editrix and this upcoming magazine's premiere.

While the big elephant in the room keeps asking if this is just a new version of The September Issue, we're more curious to get the insider's view on Roitfeld's life and the publication we've been eager to read since its initial announcement. You bet we'll keep an ear to the ground, waiting to hear about the film's release date. (NY Mag)

The Perfect Outfit: What To Wear To A Chili Cook-Off

Combining street festivals, food, and music is one summer pastime we can't resist — really, who can? And if there’s one annual event we can rely on to bring the heat (literally), it's the DC 101 Chili Cook-Off. The event even raises money for the National Kidney Foundation. Good food, good music, and a good cause? Yeah, we’re pretty sure that's the ultimate weekend trifecta.

On stage this year are veterans Incubus and Cake, along with a host of other new rock acts. And don’t worry if you’re feeling the music but aren't a chili fan — there will be lots of other food options to satisfy you. Bonus? We’ve gone ahead and picked out a perfect outfit to keep you comfy and cute for the all-day fest.

We Get Down And Dirty With Dev The music world is rife with cookie cutter pop stars and over-the-top artistes (hi Gaga!), but it's rare to come across a musician who exudes both charisma and the all-important relatability — two things the charming Dev has in spades.

The 22-year-old singer, who you may recognize from her vocals on Far East Movement's hit "Like A G6," or her only solo single "In The Dark," is insanely talented, gorgeous, and one of the most down-to-earth stars we've ever had the pleasure of interviewing. After just a few minutes in her company, she easily made it onto our "Celebs We'd Like To Grab A Beer With" list.

We have a hunch that it was that likability factor — coupled with her amazing talent and unique beauty look, of course— that prompted CK One to snap Dev up as a "color tastemaker" for the re-launch of their makeup line. We sat down with the star to learn a bit more about her style, her first album, and why she's a wiz with an eye pencil.

Most recording artists today are either safe and predictable, or over-the-top and constantly reinventing themselves. Where do you think you fall on this spectrum?
"Kind of in the middle. I like to do random things — a couple weeks back I bleached my eyebrows off. I do sporadic things and I think that's what's fun about where I am. I get to play around with that. But I definitely haven't shown up anywhere in an egg, or with a Pope impersonator...yet."

How would you describe your style?
"I grew up really influenced by rock 'n' roll, and grunge. When I was 10, I thought I was like Kurt Cobain, and you really couldn't tell me any different. Then I grew up and I started with Gwen Stefani — I remember my parents bought me the No Doubt album when I was like nine. I remember them buying me the Eminem album, and me getting more into hip-hop when I was 12, 13, and in high school. So, I like to infuse the influence of hip-hop culture and street culture, with a little bit of that raw undertone. Imperfection is what's really cool to me. Even when I'm performing live, I like when kids see me mess up sometimes, or I like when my voice cracks — that's what I celebrated when I'd go watch my favorite bands. That little bit of imperfection."

Your first album, The Night The Sun Came Up, just came out. How have things changed for you since its release?
"I went on my first sort of headlining tour, so I do all of my own venues with these great light set-ups, I have background singers, and all these props — I'm not used to that at all. I have 'in ears' now, so I can hear myself when I sing. You know, all that cool stuff. So it's changed a little bit. I just had a baby [a daughter named Emilia Lovely], so that kind of added to the change, but everything's definitely been good. So nothing too hectic yet."

A lot of up-and-coming artists do their own hair and makeup — are you really good at doing your own beauty looks?
"I did my own hair makeup up until right now, this tour that I'm on right now. I'd curl and style it myself, and do my own makeup."

Anything you're particularly skilled at?
"I like doing a cat-eye, but a little smoky on the ends. Kind of like I have today. Because my eyes are really big, I feel like it adds to the roundness. I literally get an eyeliner pencil and I rim the outside corner, the whole top and just the corner of the bottom of my eyes. Then I take an eyeshadow brush and I smudge it up. It makes you look a little bit messed up and it's kind of cool. It's fun if you use dark blues and purple — you can play around with that. I also put lighter shadows in the corners [of my eyes] to look a little more awake and alive."

What are some of your must-have beauty products?
"Right now I'm using this great hair product called Night Rider by Kevin Murphy. It a creamy paste and it holds my hair while I'm onstage, because I sweat a lot — that's so gross, but I get really sweaty — so it holds it really nice. I love CK One's dual bronzer, because when I've been stuck on a bus and I haven't been in the sun, I look crazy without it. It makes me all of a sudden look happy, and tan, and pretty. I like to contour with it — I have really high cheekbones. I don't know where they come from, but they're great, so I like to play with those. For my skin, I actually use Cetaphil. I use the cleanser and the moisturizer twice a day, every day and night, and it works."

What are the cool trends or looks that you've been dying to try?
"I did the bleached eyebrows thing and everybody thought it was wacko, but I thought it was really fucking cool. This is really strange, but I'm really into pinky rings right now. You know how rappers have pinky rings? So I got a pinky ring. It's kind of sick, right? It's a little bit ridiculous. It has my daughter's initials."

Finally, what's the best beauty advice you have ever received?
"Hung Vanngo, CK One's makeup artist, is the one who told me to try the Cetaphil. He also told me to get this Aveeno scrub and to use it three times a week, every week, on my body and face. He said that if you exfoliate your body and face, it will make your skin pretty and for when the makeup goes on."

Like? These Hangers Tell You How Popular Garments Are On Facebook Wouldn’t it be nice to know what the world will think of that dress you’ve been eyeing before you make the splurge, and quite possibly, a major fashion faux pas? Well, now you can, thanks to the latest fashion gadget coming out of Brazil.

The part of the world best known for bikini waxes and supermodel exports is now making tech strides in retail by being the first country to have hangers that digitally display how many "likes" each piece has on Facebook. Meaning, there’s really no need to bring a posse of opinionated girlfriends with you when shopping at South American boutique C&A Brasil.

The hangers, first spotted on Springwise, correspond to specific items listed on the retailer's FB page. And, as folks "like" each item, the hangers in the shop reflect popularity in real time.

Personally, we're not sure that we need the approval of the Facebook world in order to help us make a decision on a garment, but we definitely do appreciate this new tech-y feature.

What about you? Is this a feature you'd love to see in stateside (and Bayside) boutiques, or are these pricey hangers totally unnecessary? Let us know in the comments!

Rad Or Bad: Shoes With Tan Lines

So, you know how people with certain skin types — like a certain pasty-faced writer whose words you're reading right now — look after a long day in the South Beach sun? Y'know, dark chest with ivory thighs, feet tanned to a golden brown, except for those funny pink lines the flip-flops left? Yeah. Well, how about we make a shoe like that? It would be totally...well...it would certainly be something.

Look, to be honest, there's something very cool, funny, and fashion-forward about these new "suntan" shoes by L.A. leathersmiths Esquivel. But there's also something unsettling about the lingering suggestion that these lovely lace-ups were crafted out of human skin (like, this writer's skin). Eeep!

So, what do you think, is tan-lined leather a daring do, or should someone have slathered SPF 1,000,000 on these babies?
