We're not sure we have the wherewithal to witness the glory that would be Beyoncé and Madonna share a stage. A dream, to be sure, but something that would most definitely blow our minds. And yet, now that Gucci's Chime for Change concert lineup has been confirmed, we must officially prepare ourselves for this game-changing event.

Bey and Madge will be joined by many other proponents of girl power, including Ellie Goulding, Florence Welch, Freida Pinto, Blake Lively, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Jennifer Lopez. What's great about this event is that it will include the boys, too, as Timbaland, James Franco, and John Legend have also been confirmed to present at the concert.

The whole production will go down Saturday, June 1 at Twickenham Stadium, but in the meantime, check out the Chime for Change video, and maybe secure some smelling salts to get you through the actual event. (Gucci)

How To Be Funny On Twitter — A Professional Guide

MY WEDDING: tetris theme plays as i slowly inch down the aisle, trying to perfectly fit my finger in the ring

— Megan Amram (@meganamram) May 20, 2013

Probably not. But Megan Amram, who began as a free-time Tweeter and worked her way up to a job writing for Parks & Recreation, has a few tips to at least meet a baseline of funniness. Treat it like poetry, she says. And don't steer clear of puns you would avoid in real life — we're in full agreement that those 140 characters pack a unique punch that, somehow, reads best in that special medium when it wouldn't work anywhere else. And perhaps most importantly, if you're gonna shock, you better be ready to take the heat.

Head over to Co.Create to see her extensive list of how to do it right — but just don't get your hopes up. We can't all work on Parks & Rec. Sigh. (Fast Company)

Hello, California — Rabeanco Comes To The States gorgeous, leather bag that gets better with each year's passing. Lately, we've found ourselves quite smitten with the idea of investing in one timeless caryall to end all carryalls. We're talking sturdy, simple, and oh-so-functional, with a beautiful, gets-better-with-age design. It's a hard task, for sure, but thankfully luxury leather brand Rabeanco is lending a hand.

Designed with Italian sensibilities, Rabeanco's creations (which include wallets, slouchy totes, structured purses, and lots more) are rendered in carefully selected leathers in a range of classic colors and textures. Previously unavailable in the U.S., the bags are now shoppable on the brand's shiny-new website. Even more exciting for us Californians? Rabeanco is gearing up to open three (!) brick-and-mortar shops across the Sunshine State this summer. Our fingers are crossed that the Los Angeles location will be just around the corner. Click through to view our favorite styles, including an exclusive U.S. launch special (and our personal fave), the Kanga, a perfect backpack that comes in classic cognac, deep purple, dusty rose, black, red and forest green!

Rad or Bad: Would You DIY Your Own Eyelash Serum? If you do any hanging out around these parts, you know that we love ourselves a good DIY project — especially when it comes to a homegrown beauty treatment (cheaper and all-natural? Count us in). That is, until we came across this post on hair and makeup artist Sunnie Brook's awesome blog. A DIY eyelash growth serum? With castor oil?

Don't get us wrong, we're all for an alternative to Latisse and its strange side effects, and as a total beauty pro, we tend to trust whatever Sunnie sends our way. But when it comes to a treatment that goes, you know, on our eyes, we're a little bit squeamish. A combination of aloe, vitamin E, and castor oil is probably harmless, and yet, it gives us pause.

Maybe it's because castor oil has traditionally been used to treat constipation (and, allegedly, to induce labor in pregnant women) that this beauty recipe is disconcerting — the whole digestive system-eyeball connection just doesn't do it for us.

Would you try this DIY project if it promised longer lashes? Or would you rather stick to tried and tested eyelash conditioners? (Sunnie Brook)

Now Foods Castor Oil, $7.09, available at Soap.com.

From auctions at Christie's to beauty collaborations and nostalgic photo spreads, it appears that everyone is on the hunt for their own little slice of Andy Warhol's creative talent.

To introduce Warhol to our new favorite art form, Artspace, the leading online marketplace for contemporary fine art, created a series of Andy Warhol GIFs. Sorry Ladies. Brad Pitt Simply Cannot Remember What You Look Like.
We'd like to think that we're a charismatic and memorable bunch around here, but according to Esquire, we would be forgotten pretty quickly if we ever came face-to-face with Brad Pitt. The World War Z actor covers the June/July issue of the mag, and confesses that he really has trouble remembering names and faces. (Full disclosure: We, too, admit to forgetting names and faces when we first meet people, but then again, we're not Pitt.)

Pitt keeps it casual on the black-and-white cover, donning a pair of aviators, a crewneck sweater, and jeans. The rest of his editorial has the same vibe (almost like outtakes from his Chanel No. 5 perfume ad, which we still laugh at!). In an excerpt from Pitt's interview with Tom Junod, the actor explains the extent of his alleged prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness: "So many people hate me because they think I'm disrespecting them. So I swear to God, I took one year where I just said, This year, I'm just going to cop to it and say to people, 'Okay, where did we meet?' But it just got worse. People were more offended...But it's a mystery to me, man. I can't grasp a face and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested."

It is a mystery, Brad. Are you sure you're just not a forgetful person? It's okay, we won't judge. Read the rest of the excerpt here, and head on over to Esquire for the rest of Pitt's photos. (Esquire)

Are Herbal Aphrodisiacs Actually A Thing? We Hope So When we saw this Huffington Post story about herbal aphrodisiacs, our eyebrows were more than a little raised. Dr. Oz writes that ginseng, nutmeg, and maca root all have the power to increase libido. We'd love it if that were true, but when it comes to the psychosexual potential of herbs and spices, we're trying not to get our hopes up. Nothing sounds more dismal than a night in with a maca smoothie and a cutie that doesn't end in fireworks, right, ladies?

Leave it to Jezebel, of course, to call BS on the whole thing: "You could probably eat roadkill and be raring to go with the right person," writes Laura Beck, calling it like she sees it. We'll probably at least try sprinkling some nutmeg here and there, because why not? Worst case scenario, at least dinner will be a little more exciting. (The Huffington Post)

I-DIY: The Stylish Camera Strap, Solved
We could easily waste entire days on Pinterest browsing the endless stream of inspiring DIYs. But the reality is there are just too many projects and too little time. That's where designlovefest comes in. The charmingly curated blog started by Bri Emery captures everything we love about a fun, at-home project: color, quirk, and usability. Basically, we want to make each and every one. So, each week we'll be sharing the blog's easy instructions for projects that are both adorable and useful. Trust — you'll feel like a crafting goddess in no time!

What You'll Need:
• 2 yds cotton webbing (we used 1 1/2 inch natural cotton)
• Masking tape
• Acrylic craft paint
• 2 swivel hooks (found in the jewelry or with purse handle section of most craft stores)
• Fabric glue
• Needle and thread
• Metallic leather or vinyl (optional)

1
Measure out the desired length of your strap and add 2 inches. On a work surface, use tape to create a geometric design, taking care to make sure tape is fully adhered to the webbing. We used the rounded side of a bone folder to smooth the edges on the tape to be sure our paint line was crisp.

2
Now the fun part, apply paint to webbing. Be sure paint is dry before attempting to remove tape. Watching paint dry is a skill that takes practice.

4
Now that your strap is looking amazing, slide the ends through the swivel hook giving yourself about an inch of strapping on the reverse side and glue. Be sure to give the hook a little bit of space to move when gluing.

3
Because you’re hanging your beloved camera around your neck, add a few stitches to the glued area for good measure!

5
**Small side note, if you have a rather heavy DSLR you may want to choose a wider strapping than what you can fit through the hardware of the swivel hook. To accommodate this we used a piece of metallic leather to create an adapter that we then glued and sewed to the end of the painted strap. Now you’re ready to take your made-up camera to the streets and show her off.

Does This Start-Up Stack Up? Luvocracy — Like Pinterest, But Shoppable There are few things as powerful as a recommendation from someone you trust, and Luvocracy is putting that little factoid to work. A new marketplace built around social sharing, Luvocracy — where luv trumps all, get it? – is looking to change the way people make purchasing decisions by encouraging them to "live the recommended life."

Combining the worlds of sharing and shopping, Luvocracy functions in a manner similar to Pinterest, but separates itself by making all recommended items easily acquirable. The company's co-founders, including Beauty.com founder Roger Barnett, want to make sure that anything available online is available through Luvocracy.

Here's how it works: Users register for free, and begin following trusted tastemakers. These can be celebrities — former Harper's Bazaar EIC Kate Betts is already hooked — or complete strangers whose recs you want to keep up with. Share your favorite items by making your own collections. Shop others' recommendations, and Luvocracy will handle the transactional dirty work for you. A shopping assistant will find the item at a competitive price from a reputable online retailer (the listed price is supposed to be the maximum amount you will have to pay), place the order, and take care of returns if necessary. Sounds super simple, and that's not even it! For every item a fellow Luvocracy user purchases from your list of recommendations, you get a cash reward. So, the incentive to make suggestions is high. In theory, you could list an item you desire and — after enough people purchase from your recommendation — snag it for free.

In a world where pinning, sharing, and re-sharing have become second nature, making such highly coveted objects attainable feels like a clever next step. But will this start-up stack up? Will the shopping assistants' search time delay delivery time? Will you actually end up paying less than you ever expected for beautiful products? You tell us. Let us know what you predict or about your experience with Luvocracy below.

Guess How Much This Swarovski Bike Helmet Costs? Congratulations are in order. We know the 2013 CFDA Swarovski nominees were announced months ago, but the talented designers recently accomplished yet another impressive feat and we can't wait to break the news.

Over the last few weeks, the nominated designers have been working on unique, one-of-a-kind objets d'art featuring Swarovski elements (read: crystals). Irene Neuwirth chose to work with an iPad, Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis of Suno opted for a cactus, and, ever the cool guy, Tim Coppens went with a motorcycle helmet. A Ducati Formula 1 Racing Helmet, to be exact. We caught up with Coppens for an exclusive studio visit while his oeuvre was still in the making. "Putting on the stones can get a bit tedious, like peeling shrimp, but the end result is beautiful," he explained. "If you look at it from [the right side], the light hits the stones in a really nice way."

The helmet, decorated almost entirely in white and featuring a dazzling strip of larger black gems down its center, will be unveiled alongside the other bejeweled objects tonight at famed NYC boutique, Fivestory. The pieces will be available for sale until Monday, June 3 — just in time for the day's CFDA Awards, which will also be digitally broadcast on Style.com on June 4. The helmet alone should set one lucky customer back, wait for it, $2,000. Did you guess correctly?

The Manic Pixie Dream Girl For 2013 A.V. Club writer Nathan Rabin noticed a specific type of female character that was appearing in films, one he dubbed "the Manic Pixie Dream Girl." The examples included Kirsten Dunst's character in Elizabethtown and Natalie Portman in Garden State, as well as other flighty, whimsical women who help loosen up the (mostly male) protagonist.

But the MPDG has become, and persisted, as a problem, which Jezebel astutely critiques: "It was such a satisfying term because it encapsulated exactly what was so annoying about those characters — that they were not super well-written or real enough, but some kind of figment of the imagination of a grown man in need of a pick-me-up of quirky youth injections into his limp excuse for a life. But the problem is that the term started getting applied to every kind of female character who was even remotely unique." Today, the MPDG, it turns out, isn't much of a character at all‚ which may be why women have so much trouble seeing them as three-dimensional entities.

So, in 2013, we say: Let's ditch the Manic Pixie. Instead, let's focus on the new archetypes of leading ladies of which we're starting to see. They are nuanced, complex, imperfect — and relatable. They have all the off-beat charm of a Manic Pixie Dream Girl, but when the guy characters are off-screen, they still exist without the male gaze . And they are a force to be reckoned with in and of themselves. So, how many of them are you? Underachiever

The Side Of Jamaica You Need To See (A Travel Diary)
If you want to talk about history, Jamaica had the first railway lines opened to traffic outside of Europe and North America, dating back to 1845. And, records indicate, one of the first-ever, piped-water-supply systems for the western hemisphere originated in the town of Falmouth. But even if textbook history isn't your thing, perhaps you'll be interested in the famous people who have been visiting this part of the Caribbean for generations.

At Round Hill in Montego Bay, I stayed in a stunning villa, previously owned by Oscar Hammerstein II whose claim to fame was writing the lyrics to the Sound of Music along with pal Richard Rodgers. And right down the road from me was the respite where Kennedy penned his presidential acceptance speech — how cool is that? By the time I made it to the other side of the island, I was living the life of a Bond girl at GoldenEye Hotel & Resort, the playground of James Bond author Ian Fleming.

Of course, what better way to get cultured than by local cuisine? In this case, it was jerk-spiced everything. Chicken, pork, fish — I had it all — and maybe with a little rum punch to wash it all down. So click through my travel diary, and check out the side of Jamaica that doesn't exist on a cruise-ship port. sized-downloads_images_A - Property Overview_Round Hill Lobby (1)

How To Make Creamsicle Orange Eyeshadow Look Chic, Not Crazy Springtime means longer days, warm weather, and bright colors. Even in Stockholm, where the temperature hits a high of a mere 60 degrees, babes are starting to sport bright peepers. Bright, yes, but neon? That can be intimidating.

I was scared of wearing brightly colored makeup, so I stayed a brown-shadow girl until my twenties. If I can take the plunge into bright shades, anyone can. With a little guidance, spring’s saturated eye can become your newest go-to look.

Color Matters
Pick a color that complements your eyes and makes them pop, so that people stare for the right reasons. If you have blue eyes, try bright yellow; green eyes, go for punchy purple; and brown peepers work with a variety of shades, like the burnt orange I did here.

Pack On The Color
For my sunset eyes, I applied a creamy sherbet shade to my upper lid, starting at my lashline and slowly blending upward, toward and past the crease. To really make an impact, apply multiple layers of the shadow, making sure the pigment is mostly concentrated closer to your lashline. To make it less bold, you can stop the color at your crease.

Go Easy On The Liner
To provide definition to your eye, use a black or brown liner to create a light winged tip. You don't want your eyes to get lost in a pool of orange.

Setting Powder Is Key
I always smudge my liner, so setting powder is a personal godsend to keep my makeup intact. The last thing you want is to step out in your neon shadow feeling confident, only to realize that you have blue smudged all over your cheek — not a good look. A light dusting of finishing powder around your eye is all you need.

Everything You Need To Know About Your TV's New BFF, The Xbox One
Fans of streaming media and video games alike, we've got news for you! Microsoft has just revealed the next-gen follow-up to their Xbox 360: the Xbox One. Building off some of the most popular and successful features of the former version, One actually promises to be a lot more inclusive to non-gamers than other next-gen competitors like Sony's PS4 and Nintendo's WiiU. In fact, Microsoft is fond of saying that over half of the time spent on its consoles aren't spent gaming, but actually consuming streaming media, which means watching your favorite shows via a console just got a whole lot easier.

Amidst the usual claims of increased graphics and sound quality, the biggest news is that the Xbox One will be playing exceptionally nice with the rest of your entertainment center. Early in today's presentation, we learned of a new feature called Snap Mode, which allows for seamless multitasking between games, movies, and other features. The presenter was watching the first J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie in gorgeous HD, but with a simple command, he brought up a sidebar running Windows Explorer (we know, we know — but Xbox One might actually spell survival for the ol' browser!). The presenter then searched for the Star Trek sequel, pulled up a trailer and watched it, all while the original flick was still playing right along beside it. Truly, an intelligent picture-in-picture mode.

Sports fans have a lot to be excited about, too, particularly if they run their Fantasy Sports leagues through ESPN's on-site tool sets. The demonstrator pulled up a basketball game as if he was watching it live on TV, and we saw as his ESPN Fantasy League players' stats were updated in real time. This feature really seems to break down the line between in-game avatar and on-screen athlete.

A Cinderella Story At East Rockaway High, Courtesy Of Rent The Runway In the somber months after Hurricane Sandy, residents of the hardest-hit areas have found hope. But while home restoration and the implementation of longer-term preventative measures are crucial steps in the right direction, also important factors are reminders of the fun and beautiful things that life has to offer. So, Rent The Runway recently treated the students of East Rockaway High School, whose campus was severely devastated and displaced by Sandy, to a Dream Prom Styling Party.

Featuring RTR designer dresses, styling advice from the company's Fashion Director Lucy Sykes Rellie, complimentary tuxedo rentals from Men's Wearhouse for the fellas, hair tutorials by Drybar, makeup tutorials by Lancôme, and shoes courtesy of Nine West, the occasion was only a taste of the glamour sure to be experienced at their upcoming prom in late June. The dance itself is to be co-designed and decorated by Rent The Runway and celebrity party planner David Tutera, and will feature a surprise celeb performance. The evening will surely be a midsummer night's dream to remember.

Good thing we hooked her up with a flowing supply of our partner Grand Marnier (sub-standard margs would have killed this bash.)

Click on for full party coverage, tips from Hendrix, and special surprise appearances from the ladies of Haim and The Man Repeller herself. Good times ahead! 01_IMG_3554_drop

Makeup Tips for Redheads: Yes, You CAN Wear Bronzer Let’s face it: All redheads aren’t created equal. Red hair comes in a variety of hues to complement different skin tones — and personalities, too. Generalizing redheads is almost a sin, however, we will point out one thing gingers have in common: vibrant hair color. And, what better way to talk about crimson, strawberry, and copper locks than to highlight the makeup that flatters these shades?

“The shade of red that looks best on a woman generally corresponds to her skin tone, which absolutely dictates her best makeup shades,” explains NYC makeup artist Katey Denno. For example, a woman with natural auburn hair will likely have different undertones in her skin than a woman with fiery orange locks. The general rule for color: If you have pinkish undertones, opt for pink or blue-based red cheek and lip colors. Have yellowish undertones? You’re in luck, because you can rock those colors as well as orange and peach shades.

While redheads are encouraged to experiment with color (yes, a red lip works on a redhead), it’s important to be strategic not only with the colors you choose, but also with the placement. Focus on adding an intense pigment to one feature at a time. “Redheads should steer clear of too many competing colors,” says Maribeth Madron, a makeup artist and brow specialist in NYC. “You already have a beautiful palette — don't try to compete with it.”

A few guidelines for color: Take a risk and try a strong lip color like red, pink, or copper. When adding pops of color, keep the rest of your face simple by evening out your complexion and adding subtle definition. Coat your lashes with brown mascara, not black, and add brown liner to complete your look without making your eyes look too harsh. To avoid what Madron calls “bunny rabbit eyes,” make sure the shades of brown you choose have no reddish undertones.

When it comes to your skin, there’s one rule all redheads should follow, and it is this: If you have freckles, never, ever cover them. “Heavy foundation looks awful on redheads,” Madron says. Instead of using foundation, which can make your skin look older when piled on, try a sheer tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone and let your freckles come through.

And, while an alabaster complexion is covetable, don’t be afraid to use bronzer. “A sheer, warm bronzer can bring out your eyes and show off the multi-tonal dimensions in your hair color wonderfully,” Denno explains. So, when it comes to breaking those long-standing (and totally unnecessary) "rules," you might just be better off red.

Would You Wear The ASOS x NYLON Sweater? Sooo...ASOS and NYLON teamed up to make a summer garment and — drumroll please — the result is a cropped, grey, pom-pom-adorned sweatshirt. Aside from being an out-there mouthful, this piece is being billed as "the perfect musical-festival friendly cropped sweatshirt." Well, that does make a bit of sense: Both brands are ALL CAPS, ALL THE TIME, and so is their collaborative piece. It's loud, it's fun, it's funky, and it takes a bit of guts to pull off. The on-trend e-commerce site and pop-style mag have always had their fingers on the pulse of what's next. And though we're not sure this sweatshirt is a summer staple, we can picture rocking out in it when the temps drop at an outdoor, evening performance. Only question is: What say you? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.

Beyoncé's New Single Is Here And It's Everything Pepsi and H&M commercials, and today we're finally a real taste of what to expect.

"Grown Woman" is basically the nicer, less abrasive sister to her March release "Bow Down." Beyoncé's still saying she's all that and then some, but it's all okay because it's spun over a dance beat, and everything's fine when the beat makes you move, right? Come to think of it, after listening to this track on repeat for maybe an hour, this is her follow-up to "Run The World (Girls)." Only it's the women who run this motha, now.

To Seduce — Ditch The Sweatpants, Don A Kaftan, Says Christina Hendricks Imagine preparing a simple breakfast on a bright, summer morning in your sun-drenched kitchen. In this blissful fantasy, what are you wearing while sprinkling organic granola and fresh berries over that yogurt parfait? Sweatpants? We think not — roomy comfies are reserved for sick days and lazy Sundays, but we gotta say, that elastic band doesn't do our silhouettes justice, or make us feel like we're living the dream. Christina Hendricks has the relaxed, sexy solution — low-cut kaftans! The Mad Men star shared that hubby Geoffrey Arend thinks she looks great in the vintage versions she finds on eBay (well, duh!), and we're definitely taking style notes. It's a simple yet luxurious upgrade that doesn't forfeit comfort and ease. Plus, the easy, often brightly patterned alternative calls to us Angelenos — especially on scorching summer days. So, ditch those man-repelling sweats and grab yourself a seductive kaftan, stat! It's luxe leisure fit for a star. (Express UK)

Watch The New Zooey Deschanel-Directed She & Him Music Vid! Mix together some playful ‘60s dance moves, bright vintage frocks, and a brand-new She & Him tune — what do you get? Oh, just another reason to adore Zooey Deschanel (as if we needed one!). The New Girl star took her first crack at directing a music video for the indie duo’s Volume 3 single, “I Could’ve Been Your Girl,” and she completely blew it out of the park.

The retro-inspired vid features Zooey boogie-ing with her crew while crooning to M. Ward (guitarist and She & Him’s other half) as he attempts to nonchalantly sip coffee and read the paper. Shots of Zooey petting a wooden duck and hitting a beach ball highlight that goofy vibe we love her for, and totally put a smile on our beginning-of-the-week face.

Bonus: If you buy Volume 3 from HelloGiggles online shop Merge, you get free, too-cute nail decals. Just enter “NAILS” as the coupon code.

Below, the director's sweet debut. Bravo, Zooey!

Grab Some Tissues: Video Shows Tornado Survivor Finding Lost Pup On Air is difficult even to convey. Yet, amidst the destruction, Gawker posted a video this morning that both sums up the tragedy, but also offers a genuine comfort.

Just check out the video, because it is one of the most emotional, touching, and evocative moments we have experienced in a great long while. The survivor's candid assessment of the scene ("I know exactly what happened, dear. Exactly.") and the silent embrace at the end...well, half of our office was just in tears. Many feelings. Many, many feelings.

For those interested in helping Oklahoma, NBC has a great roundup of ways in which you can give both time and money. (Gawker)

Got SPF? ULTA Does! Here’s Where to Find All Your Summer Beauty Goods The sun is shining, the patios are open, and the 40-degree days — knock on wood — are behind us. At last, it’s time to ditch the winter fragrances and load up on that SPF. And we know just the spot to do it. The West Loop’s spanking-new ULTA Beauty isn’t billed as a “one-stop beauty destination” for naught. (Seriously, it’s not just PR jargon.) At 10,000 square feet, the playground for prettiness stocks a whopping 20,000 beauty products. There’s BB cream from philosophy, hydrating masks from Dermalogica, cheek stains from Tarte, and summery scents from Marc Jacobs. And that’s just what we scored on our first visit.

“ULTA uses a ‘street of shops’ approach that showcases unique product areas such as fragrance, cosmetics, skin care, hair care, and styling tools,” said Amy Sattler, a rep for the company. “The setup provides an easy-to-navigate shopping experience.” And if you have any burning beauty questions, there’s also an in-house salon with licensed hairstylists and skin therapists on standby. So, clear out some space in your beauty closet and get shopping!

The J.Crew Guide To Making Your Brand Cool After reading the Fast Company account on how J.Crew's most successful collaborators came to be, we figured out the one major step to putting your brand on the map: land a J.Crew collaboration. Yes, it's that simple. Goldsign, Lulu Frost, The Laundress — some of these brands wouldn't be where they are now if it weren't for J.Crew's most powerful duo, CEO/chairman Mickey Drexler and president/chief creative officer Jenna Lyons, signing them on. And while the Fast Company article details the stories behind the collaboration successes, there were three distinct takeaways we've permanently noted in the Moleskines of our minds.

Be Ballsy — We're big advocates of this. Huge. And while we may have some personal moments of fearlessness that have steered us in the right direction, the same applies to Adriano Goldschmied's brand, Goldsign jeans. According to the tale, the company shipped a package containing a pair of its denim pieces to Lyons — without attaching a note. Sure, a letter of flattery could have helped, but they let their product speak for itself. And soon after Lyons slipped into them, Goldschmied found himself to be one half of J.Crew's most famous denim collaboration.

Let Mickey Drexler Charm You (Because, c'mon you can't help it) — Worried that they might be considered sellouts, Brooklyn-based tie company The Hill-side was weary of partnering with a major retailer. As they tell Fast Company, "It's like not wanting your favorite punk band to sign with a major label when you're a teenager." But after some pretty darn convincing conversations with Drexler, the indie brand willingly entered into a partnership. They have since maintained a long-term relationship with J.Crew, joining forces on 15 collections to date.

Stick To Your Guns (But Don't Be Afraid Of Change) — Perhaps that sounds contradictory to our previous point, but hear us out. Timex and New Balance have also launched partnerships with J.Crew, and while we're all for a good business relationship, the best ones should bring out the best in both parties — especially when they are already both individually well-respected. For instance, with the creation of the Timex for J.Crew watches, the collab not only honored the watch brand, but also infused the J.Crew touch that lead to new designs for a timeless (pun-intended) product. There's no need to throw out the old handbook, but the ability to evolve your products can mean the difference between success and J.Crew-collab success.

Of course, there are tons more takeaways — especially where Drexler and Lyons are concerned — and anecdotes that give us a peek into the success of the J.Crew partnerships. Whether you're a designer looking to make your mass-market arrival, or simply turn your passion into a profit, we highly recommend a full read of the inspiring Fast Company feature.

Rita Ora's Hair Is Blue Now, And We Kinda Love It
Blue hair is hard to pull off — but we're not surprised that Rita Ora rocks it like a pro. The super-babe posted pics of her latest hair makeover on Instagram yesterday, and while we're not sure if her self-proclaimed "Smurf Day" is a permanent affair, we're digging this moment, majorly.

She's the epitome of a star who can flip-flop from glam to grunge, street-smart to runway-ready, in a matter of minutes. What is it that makes her so versatile? Why can't we be chameleons, too? Rita, if you're reading, please send tips/your hair stylist.

GQ Heads To Our Hood, Captures A Slew Of Style Snaps If there’s one way we get our kicks around this hilly city, it’s shuffling around in search of glorious street-style snaps. Noticed, much? Trust us, we know that exploring a new turf — even if it’s just a semi-foreign microhood — is an effective way to get acquainted with the area and the local fashion. So, we have to hand it to GQ for trekking out west to see what’s up with S.F. style (yes, even after deeming it as one of the worst-dressed cities around!).

Photographer Justin Bridges headed to the Bay and snapped away at our most finely dressed gentleman. While we notice a lot of Mission action going on (hey, can we blame the guy?), we also spy some familiar faces. Have a peek and tell us what you think — did the men’s mag manage to capture some goodies, or did it miss the mark? We’ll let you be the judge. (GQ)

Flower Girls: Our Expert Guide To Selecting & Wearing Floral Fragrances floral fragrances are the number-one scent category in the U.S., representing a total of one-third of all fragrance purchases in the first quarter of 2013. That's a lot of flowers, people.

But, the all-encompassing term "floral" doesn't really do justice to the nuances of this oh-so-feminine scent category. What you'll smell from a rose-based scent is worlds away from what you'd find with an iris one.

To help us decipher the difference between the expansive bouquet of fragrances available, we asked two perfume world vets — Franco Wright, co-founder of Lucky Scent, and Steven Gontarski, manager at Scent Bar in Los Angeles — to identify the 10 most common floral notes and give us their expert descriptions for what each one really smells like.

And, once you've figured out which note is right for you, we went ahead and highlighted a few new scents that best showcase your flower of choice. We're giving like that. fragrance-rose

Will Same-Day Delivery Be A Blessing Or A Curse?
While these e-retailers are only testing these models at the moment, it's exciting to think that you could order an item in the morning and be able to wear it, fresh out of the box, that night. Of course, there are a few hiccups in this shopping model. As Matthew Nemer, Wells Fargo retail analyst, told WWD, "The only way to make the same-day delivery model work is if there’s a store. If you pick up from the retail store, it’s always going to be closer to home." And, clearly, for those who do not live in close proximity, this presents challenges.

While this speedy new delivery platform would certainly benefit part of the online-shopping community, we're still not sure if it will actually be convenient enough to stop physically shopping at our favorite stores all together. Give us your take below. (WWD)

Pop Your Collar With This Stunning Embellished Find It's an unexpected statement that allows you to skip accessories and not look drab.

The intricate beading and touch of glam on this top instantly caught my eye. Finding one of spring's must-have items at T.J.Maxx for a fraction of what I'd pay at a department store was just the icing on the sartorial cake. To really show off the collar, I buttoned it all the way up to the neckline and paired it with a neutral-toned jacket and denim. I love how such a small detail can define a whole look. Another detail that made me swoon: the blouse's scalloped hem. No way I'm tucking this baby in.

Why Dermablend Quick-Fix Concealer Should Be Your Desert Island Pick One of my beauty icons, Drew Barrymore, was recently asked what product she'd take to the desert island. To which she said, "My concealer, or you can just kill me now." A bit dramatic, but I couldn't agree more — although I would probably try to shove a tube of mascara in my bra or something...

Anyway, I get a lot of requests from readers for my favorite concealer, and I've always recommended Clinique Redness Solutions Targeted Corrector or Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick, but I recently got my hands on Dermablend Quick-Fix, and there's no turning back.

This concealer really, truly makes all those pesky skin flaws disappear. I've been using it on everything from zits to sunspots to acne scars, and even ugly mosquito bites. (Not-so-fun fact: I am extra allergic to mosquito bites and they leave dark red welts on my skin...it isn't cute.)

I've also tested it on under-eye circles ,and it makes you look like you didn't stay out all night making bad decisions. And, since the stick is a bit thicker than your usual concealer, it covers more ground faster. Plus, the lightweight formula doesn't feel like I'm caking over a problem but just making it magically disappear.

Overall, the application is smooth, coverage buildable, and it's long-lasting — perfect for a desert island choice or your regular Monday.

Wynter Gordon On Working Hard, Playing Hard, And The Best Dancing In NYC
Wynter Gordon, Singer and Songwriter

Ten years ago, Diana Gordon was just another kid from Queens with the bug to sing, a LaGuardia High School diploma, and a waitressing job. A decade later, she’s Wynter Gordon, an industry vet with an album and dozens of high-profile collaborations to her name. One thing hasn't changed, though — the lady still works and plays like a champ. We grabbed the stylish, sweet Gordon to talk about her career path, her favorite nightlife picks, and the sacrifices required to get your voice heard.

So, even at your age, you’re a real music-industry vet. Can you tell us a bit about how you broke in?

“I’ve had the bug since I was about four. I imagined myself on Broadway as a kid, starring as orphan Annie, or doing voiceovers for Disney cartoons. I was singing and performing everywhere I went (I got on everyone’s nerves with all my noise), but my parents gave me 100 percent freedom to do whatever I liked. I went to LaGuardia High School (the Fame school), got my classical training, and decided I was gonna take it serious when I was about 17. I was focused on my future even in high school. I worked during the day as a waitress and, at night, hit the studio as an intern. While the other kids partied and focused on the opposite sex, I was doing late-night studio sessions. I was so excited — I didn't mind the stress.”

And what was the moment you knew you’d “made it”?

"When I wrote the title track for Mary J. Blige’s The Breakthrough…and it won best album!”

Now, you’re doing more collaborations than ever, working on a new album, touring, and more. How do you do so much work and still lead the colorful nightlife we know you do? Like, do you have a secret cure for hangovers?

“Never had one — I don't drink alcohol. Look, there’s a lot of work that goes into being an artist. It’s not busywork like most desk jobs, but I’m up all day and night. I don't have a sleep schedule. I miss the nicest days, because I’m in the studio all day sometimes. I usually go to sleep at 5 a.m. and wake up around noon. I’m never home, so I always beg my siblings to come clean up my mess. It’s hard to keep a partner happy in a relationship if they are not as busy as me, I find.”

Wow. So what’s a “night off” for you?

“Home. Netflix. Donuts.”

Ha. Okay. So when you are out, what are songs that always get you out on the dance floor?

"'Show Me Love' by Robin S. and 'This Is How We Do It' by Montell Jordan.”

And any fashion and makeup tips for the late-night adventurer?

“Bring flats. Wear a piece of clothing that says something about you or stands out (you can never go wrong with a white shirt and heels or all black). Personally, I never leave home without my MAC Ruby Woo lipstick, Clinique matte powder, a bag of Skittles, and a bottle of water.”

What are your favorite spots for a ragin’ night out?

“I like the Luxx parties at Mister H on Wednesday nights. It always feels like a basement party. The energy is good, and people actually dance. Oh, and here’s a tip for my ladies: If you want a good girls' night out and ditch the thirsty dudes, head to Westway on gay night. Westgay is poppin' — the best music, the best dressed people in the city, and the best drag show.”

What’s the most epic party you’ve been to, ever?

“I was in Miami, and I got a call to go hang out with LMFAO. These guys are crazy on paper, which means they are insane nuts in person. I mean, people were hanging off the walls at this party. There were pink gorillas, streamers, smoke, dancers. I could have sworn someone was juggling, and someone ate a sword. It was a true circus.”

Victoria Beckham Reveals Her Much Softer Side... Dearest Posh: Your heroic days as a Spice Girl had us thinking you were a cold-shouldered fashion queen without a tear to spare, but how wrong we were.

Lady Beckham was on hand in Paris on Saturday to support David at his final game as a professional hunk soccer player, and much like us, she got a little emotional.

Posh was in the stands at Parc des Princes with Romeo, Cruz, Brooklyn, and Harper, and openly teared up as David said his goodbyes on the field. It was a rare moment, since she hasn't been known to be particularly expressive during public appearances (aside from her one standard facial expression), but let's be honest: We'd be lying if we said it wasn't stirring to watch David bro it out on the field and then get tossed into the air by his team. Oh, Becks. We hate to see you go, but we love to watch you leave. (DListed)

Muggles, Rejoice: Harry Potter Hits The Auction Block
Muggles, the day you’ve been waiting for is finally upon us – a first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is up for auction. And, the best part? The tome contains 22 hand-drawn illustrations and annotations by the author, J.K. Rowling. On the title page, Rowling has simply written “changed by life forever.” Quite.

This tome is part of a sale at Sotheby’s entitled “First Editions, Second Thoughts.” Lionel Shriver, Kazuo Ishiguro, and Ian McEwan have contributed to this auction as well, aiming to raise money for the writer’s charity English PEN. The organisation strives “to defend and promote free expression, and to remove barriers to literature.” Something we’re certain Harry would have approved of. (New)

Foxy Lady! Kate Winslet's Bizarre Choice Of Headwear
Attending the event as a patron, Kate got fully into the spirit of the ‘secret beauty’ theme at the fundraising event for the homeless by hiding behind a sequined eye mask and aforementioned fox headpiece. An interesting move, given the kooky creation by accessories designer Natalie Ellner is close to £4000. That's one heck of a lot of meals for the homeless, no? That said, we know Kate ain’t one to shy away from a bold sartorial statement. It is not the first time the actress has displayed a penchant for animalia. There has been the magpie hat, the peacock, the badger, and lest we forget the snow bunny!

Surely she can almost get away with it, her third husband goes by "Ned Rocknroll" after all. (The Telegraph)

Marissa Mayer Promises Not To "Mess Up" Tumblr In today's news on websites missing an "e," Yahoo! promises not to mess things up with its recent, sensational Tumblr acquisition — oh, and Flickr, too. CEO Marissa Mayer promised to preserve the integrity of Tumblr and even improve the photo-sharing service that's already beloved by professionals and amateurs alike.

Mayer spoke today at a press event in NYC about the acquisition and revamp, saying Flickr "didn't fare so well...it's about how we can make Flickr awesome again." Yahoo! isn't just buying up these companies for kicks, though. The site will soon debut a news stream interface for e-mail users entirely powered by Flickr photos. The best part, though, is that all Flickr users will now receive a terabyte of photo storage for free — that's essentially unlimited space; accommodating over 500,000 photos at full, original quality. The new Flickr will also be compatible with every mobile device, and as senior VP of mobile Adam Cahan says, it's gonna be all of three things: "spectaculr, wherevr, biggr."

As lovers of eye candy in all its forms, we have to agree with Mayer that "photos are what make the world's daily habits inspiring and entertaining. Photos make the world go round." But, we're also firm believers that the great thing about platforms like Tumblr and Flickr is that they always felt completely organic — which is why this acquisition is scary to us and to many others. But, it sounds like the plans for Flickr, at least, have got it right. The new version sounds like a return to the fundamental goal of the platform, because it makes it all about the photos, cutting out the middlemen and data restrictions and giving the people what they want. Sign us up.

R29 Exclusive Sneak Peek! Amber Heard Is Gorgeous In "Syrup" she's vaulted to white-hot status once rumors began to swirl about the real-life lovebirds possible engagement. It sounds like a hard role to play — you know, sharing the spotlight with the perennially gorgeous Depp, but we think Heard is up for the challenge.

In her latest flick, the starlet plays 6 (a.k.a Elizabeth), an over-achieving marketing exec with a real grasp on the money-making power of image and appearance. Syrup, directed by the young and talented Aram Rappaport and based on the cult novel of the same name by Max Berry, looks slick, fast-paced, and exciting — and oh yeah, crazy fashionable, too. The men (Shiloh Fernandez and Kellan Lutz) are well-suited, the women (Heard and Brittany Snow) well-heeled, and Heard particularly is a vision in sharp, gorgeous looks that make our own closets sigh with longing. Click through to see for yourself — Refinery29 has the exclusive first look at some of Heard's best sartorial moments in the film. And, check out the trailer below — Syrup opens in theaters June 7!

Clare Vivier Gives Fanny Pack Tips, Reveals Fave Bloggers, & More! Handbags tend to be a serious matter among fashion folks. Knowing the latest designers comes with the turf, so the name Clare Vivier is probably already on your radar. But, how much do you really know about this awesome, bilingual jet-setter? Luckily, the L.A.-based designer was in town to fete her latest line, and we snuck in a few moments to chat about Instagram, her hot collab with Goop, and rocking a fanny pack like a boss.

You recently launched a collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop! Tell us about the designs.
"We released it last week — it was a kind of nautical-inspired clutch, which Gwyneth really likes. Apparently, her favorite color is gray, so we did gray catch-alls and a gray simple tote, as well."

Your bags and clutches have been seen in the hands of It Girls all over the world — is there a style blogger you'd like to see toting one?
"One girl who does carry it is Julie of Sincerely, Jules. Besides her, it would be super if Leandra from Man Repeller carried it. I think she's very funny — she's got a great sense of humor. I also love Into The Gloss, so Emily Weiss, too. I love the Who What Wear women, both of the two women who founded it are amazing and I would love for them to carry it!"

You recently visited Japan. Do you think the minimalist, Japanese style speaks to the sleek simplicity of your pieces?
"Yeah, I think it's a combination of the very chic and simple design aspect of our line, and also the fact that it is made in America. Japan loves Americana — it seems to really resonate with Japanese store buyers, and then the customers."

Being this was your first time in Japan, what was the highlight of your trip?
"God, there were so many things! The night that the Steven Alan store opened was a really fun party and it was just so great to see all the people come out for that. They were so excited! The other things that were a highlight were the meals and the restaurants. I toured a bunch of the stores that carry my stuff — it was such a thrilling sight for me."

You are totally reviving the fanny pack these days! What is your go-to outfit for rocking yours?
"It's so cute with so many things! With a shirtdress (something that kind of needs to be cinched), it would look cute if you're going to the farmers market on a Sunday morning, and you just have your shirtdress and your fanny pack. If you're going to a concert, and you've got your jean shorts and your sandals, that's also really cute. I wore it all over Japan, so I was wearing it with just skinny jeans and a trench coat, because I didn't want to carry a bag around."

And, what can we usually find in your Clare Vivier fanny pack?
"You can always find my iPhone in there, because I'm constantly taking pictures for Instagram; my cute Clare Vivier card case, which I always have with me; and probably some lipstick and mascara."

Being a pretty active Instagrammer, what is your favorite Instagram account that everyone needs to follow now?
"I love Amanda Brooks' Instagram because she moved to the English countryside and it's so different from what we live in the city in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, or whatever. Her pictures are always of horses, making jam, and animals in her barn yard. They are so gorgeous — and English countryside, I love that. Instagram is a great way to keep up with people."

The SEEVIVIER blog is a really cool way for you to speak to your fans and keep them updated on your life. What do you like about blogging?
"My blog was really what I used to create the brand identity. It was just me, my life in Los Angeles, my family, traveling to France, and then just creating the line. I would take pictures of new bags we were doing and people that were working with me, and it just kind of resonated with people as a picture of a small business that was growing. And, I have a lot of people who were following since the beginning and excited to see it grow, so it's been really fun."

What designs can we expect to see in your next collection?
"We have some beautiful star-printed bags coming out and gorgeous, navy-blue heron duffles. Of course, more stripes because that seems to be something people react to and I really love them, as well. I think those trends that we are doing in our line are happening in the wider world of fashion, so those are the things I am looking forward to."

EDM Is BACK (According To NYC's Electric Daisy Carnival)
If Coachella wasn't enough of an indication that Electronic Dance Music is back and here to stay, then last weekend's Electric Daisy Carnival in New York will be. Thousands of people from across the country flocked to Citi Field in Queens last weekend for a neon-soaked, bass-thumping, laser-filled spectacle as the festival stopped over before its next stop in Las Vegas.

Eric Prydz's 90-minute set on Friday kept the momentum going through ATB's monstrous light show, which closed out the first day. But Saturday was easily the day to go. A sea of Day-Glo 20-somethings packed themselves into the main stage area to see EDM big-shots Thomas Gold, Calvin Harris, Afrojack, and Porter Robinson spin back-to-back sets. As night fell, the lights became brighter, the beats got heavier, and the crowd never ceased to lose energy. Harris was the standout of the lineup when he looped in fan favorites, like "We Found Love," Ellie Goulding's "I Need Your Love," and his track with Florence Welch, "Sweet Nothing," that would have set the roof on fire — had there been one.

Don't expect any style roundups though. EDM style and festival looks aren't as trendy as Coachella or SXSW (furry boots, gold lamé hot pants, and candy bras aren't going to make the best-dressed list anytime soon), but that's not the point. It's about experiencing the full spectrum of sound — you could feel the bass from the subway station even before entering the stadium, not to mention the lights, the pyrotechnics, the occasional neon-lit sea creature surfing the crowd.

If you want more of a taste of what the weekend was like, you can stream the sets here.

11 So-Wearable Bathing Suits From The Queen Of Quirky Cool, Lauren Moffatt

Cronuts: The New Dessert You're Already Obsessed With the cronut.

Though it sounds like some kind of pre-historic bridal shower treat, this sweet and flaky beauty is a hybrid of buttery-croissant/sugar-coated donut. Created by Dominique Ansel, this confection has only been out for a week and already the city has gone bonkers. The Village Voice reports that a small batch of 50 cronuts were sold on Friday, May 12. On Saturday morning, dozens of people were lined up by 7:30, hours before doors opened. Normally, New Yorkers only rise at that hour to beat the rush at SoulCycle, but the call of the cronut is too great to resist.

While Los Angeles begs pastry chefs to bring the cronut out west, here on the East Coast, we've already started a support group for cronut-crazies. Yes, at cronut.org, you can share your Instagrams, cronut dreams, and horror stories of sugar crashes gone awry. If you need someone else to talk about your fixation on this frosted goodness, you'll know where to find us — elbow-deep in Ansel's deep-fryer. (Village Voice)

Why This Woman's TED Talk Had Our Entire Office Buzzing
Last week, after watching Dr. Meg Jay's TED Talk, "Why 30 Is Not The New 20," where she outlined reasons why women need to do better in their 20s, all of us here at R29 HQ could have benefited from a good therapy session. In an age of questioning whether women can have it all, leaning in, and occasionally, suggestions that women try harder to find husbands, the clinical psychologist's thesis felt appropriately timed. But this talk was different: Dr. Jay makes some very solid points, but she also pushes our buttons, big-time — especially the panic one.

Based on where we are in life, we had some varied personal reactions to the talk. But no matter our age, we all agreed on one thing: We need to live more and worry less, not add more pressure to do more and get further ahead while we're younger. Hit play above for the entire talk, then click through to see three different editors (in three different decades) hash out their very personal reactions — and then share your own in the comments!

Macklemore, Tom Petty, & More Shows To Catch This Week
Majical Cloudz, Gobby: Glasslands, May 21, $10
Majical Cloudz may have first been recognized for their work with fellow Canadian musician Grimes, but the band is a far cry from Claire Boucher's ethereal sound. Instead, Devon Welsh and Matthew Otto make quietly somber synth-pop that captures struggling relationships and existential dread. One of our favorite new acts.
Tuesday, May 21, 8:30 p.m., Glasslands, 289 Kent Ave (between South 1st and South 2nd Streets); Brooklyn; 718-599-1450.

XXL Freshmen Tour: Schoolboy Q, Trinidad Jame$, Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, Logic, Action Bronson, Kirko Bangz, Travi$ Scott, Dizzy Wright, Angel Haze: Best Buy Theater, May 21, $28
Featuring a lineup of just about every up-and-coming MC in the rap game, the XXL Freshmen Tour is a excellent chance to catch a ton of great hip-hop artists in one night. From Black Hippy's Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, to Refinery29 musical muse Angel Haze, this bill is seriously stacked.
Tuesday, May 21, 7 p.m., Best Buy Theater, 1515 Broadway (at W 44th Street); 212-930-1950.

DFA Records 12th Anniversary: James Murphy, Shit Robot, The Juan Maclean, The Crystal Ark, Pat Mahoney, Nancy Whang (The Juan Maclean/LCD Soundsystem), Tim Sweeney, Yacht, The Rapture (Gabe & Vito DJ Set), Prinzhorn Dance School, Planningtorock, Larry Gus, Dan Bodan, Black Dice, Still Going, Marcus Marr: Grand Prospect Hall, May 25, $30
To celebrate 12 years of new-disco hits, famed Williamsburg-based label DFA is throwing a huge bash in conjunction with Red Bull Music Academy. The show will feature virtually every current act on the label's roster, including hipster-godhead/label-impresario/former LCD-Soundsystem-mastermind James Murphy. This is going to be a good one.
Saturday, May 25, 9 p.m., Grand Prospect Hall, 263 Prospect Avenue Brooklyn (between 5th and 6th Avenues); Brooklyn; 718-788-0777.

Up for more? Here are some bonus shows:

Of Course, The First MissoniHome Store Opens In Southampton luxe candles online or brave the department-store crowds for that statement throw. Because your every chevron-covered want and need can now be found in a single, physical location.

That's right, the first U.S. MissoniHome outpost opened its doors to the public last Friday in charming Southampton, NY. Why the Hamptons and not the bustling, well-foot-trafficked city? The brand couldn't think of a better place to establish its first brick-and-mortar, said Carlo Torrani, MissoniHome global commercial director and nephew to Missoni matriarch, Rosita. And, the wealthy New York community would be likely to embrace the vibrant, luxurious, resort-like mastery the brand is known for.

Okay, so maybe you can't make the trek to the quaint storefront on Jobs Lane (let alone afford that candle.) Luckily, future MissoniHome outposts may include L.A. and Miami, Torrani told us. Here's hoping. Until then, click through the slideshow for a peek inside the store.

So, Robert Pattinson's Next Girlfriend Is.... he's officially split with Kristen Stewart, like hanging out with his dogs and a whole onslaught of film roles coming up — but that doesn't mean we can't play fantasy matchmaker and see what bright young stars might make Rob's skin soul sparkle.

Naturally, we don't know Robert Pattinson or his personal taste in women, but we have communed with him on a spiritual level. We'll admit it: We can't perfectly predict what might happen somewhere in the future. (Or maybe is happening, right now, in an alternate universe.) Join us on a very scientific journey, where we rate who might be able to fill the empty, worn-in Converse in RPatz's heart.

Help This Local Chicagoan Reach Project Runway Fame — Again! We don't know what you were (or are) doing in your 20s, but Katelyn Pankoke of Elaya Vaughn Bridal has already successfully launched her own line and has competed on the hit show Project Runway. We followed this local talent the first time she hit it big, so we don't think she's going anywhere anytime soon.

Pankoke was just given a second chance to compete for a spot on the upcoming season 12 of Project Runway — and she's in it to win it. Through social media (the way of the world these days) and MyLifetime.com, you can help Pankoke's dream become a reality beyond television by voting for her on Twitter.

“I’m so honored and grateful to have been given the chance to compete again," says Pankoke. "With the teams' approach of Season 11, the judges and viewing audience never actually had the chance to see what I can really do.” We don't know about you, but we felt she got cheated last season with her prom-dress creation. Like, what did you wear to your prom? Just sayin'.

So, get out your phone and start tweeting! To thank you for your support, Pankoke is giving two lucky fans who tweet #RunwayKate @ProjectRunway a chance to win the gorgeous dress she was wearing in the elimination episode, as well as her reunion-show dress. Sounds like a win-win to us!

H.O.V.A. Has Spoken: No Bey-bay For Bey Everyone, we'll need you to cease and desist the rejoicing and baby-name speculating you've been doing since you heard Beyoncé was pregnant again. After receiving a congratulatory note from Hot '97 DJ Old Man Ebro, Jay responded with a demure statement that has encapsulated the nature of journalism in the modern age: "It's not true...the news is worse than blogs."

Still sounds a little fishy, but we gotta take H.O.V.A.'s word for it. We're just a little surprised Gwyneth Paltrow wasn't delivering the news, since she and the Carters are BFFs. Oh well, no Bey-bay for Beyoncé means the Mrs. Carter World Tour can go on seamlessly, despite the still-questionable canceled tour dates — perhaps there's a shortage of titanium straws and hand-carved ice balls? What Your Serving Sizes Should Really Look Like (Uh-Oh)
Hopefully, by now, it's pretty common knowledge that the importance of nutrition labels goes way beyond just calories. You should be checking the sodium, the ingredients, the sugar — and above all, the serving size. What you see might shock you, and even those who consider themselves familiar with healthy portion control might be surprised by this Buzzfeed video demonstrating the actual recommended serving sizes of your favorite junk foods. But mainly, we feel bad for that mozzarella stick. Poor little guy, all alone! Maybe he can be friends with that measly pile of Doritos?

Step Up Your Healthy-Dinner Game With This Cheap & Easy Meal
For us, springtime is always accompanied by the urge to do a little pruning — which means getting rid of unworn duds, trimming some unnecessary cals from our diets, and cutting back on spending to save for a summer vacay. Thankfully, blogger Rivka of Not Derby Pie is helping us accomplish two of our three goals, with a recipe for quinoa and asparagus salad. To make it, all you'll need is some quinoa, asparagus, golden raisins, and sunflower seeds (with a little yogurt and lemon for the dressing). Sounds like the perfect go-to dish for a balmy spring night — and there's no side of guilt to be found. (Not Derby Pie)

Easy Sandwich Recipes That'll Instantly Elevate You To 5-Star-Chef Status
croque-madame-cut
Skinnier Croque Madame
Serves 4
1 tbsp, plus 2 tsps extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup low-fat (1%) milk
1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2/3 cup grated Gruyère cheese
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
4 slices thick-cut, whole-grain bread, toasted
4 tbsps dijon mustard
1/2 pound sliced Black Forest ham
4 large eggs
2 cups watercress leaves, washed and dried

Heat one tablespoon olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring until bubbling and smooth, about three minutes. Whisk in the milk, then bring to a simmer and cook, whisking frequently, until thickened, about five minutes. Remove from the heat. Stir in the parmesan and Gruyère until melted. Season with nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat the broiler. Spread one tablespoon mustard on one side of each bread slice and arrange, mustard-side up, on a foil-lined baking sheet. Divide ham among the four slices. Top each with 1/3 cup cheese sauce and broil until golden and bubbly, one to two minutes. Transfer to lower oven rack to keep warm.

Meanwhile, heat the remaining two teaspoons olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crack eggs into small cups, then slide into the skillet and cook until whites begin to set. Cover and cook until whites are firm, about two more minutes. (If your skillet is too small, feel free to cook eggs one or two at a time instead.)

Top each sandwich with 1/2 cup watercress leaves and one fried egg.

Dewy Skin, Velvety Lips: The Perfect Summer Lipstick Look Brightly colored, matte lips. It might sound simple, but pulling this one off requires a certain amount of visual balance in order to not look one-dimensional. Sure, it's our instinct to have our skin be as shine-free as possible, but a matte lip on matte skin would take it overboard, not to mention be impractical in summer's sweltering temps.

So, we called in makeup artist Bethany Brill to show us how to maximize our chic potential. Check out the fresh summer look on Jem, and let us know what you think. Are you as obsessed with this gorgeous combo of velvety and dewy as we are?

From HATCH To Hospital, The Ride Has Never Been Smoother Whether it's your first trip to the maternity ward or third, the hurried journey to the hospital is usually remembered as chaotic, uncomfortable, and loud. There's no denying that the end result is beautiful, but that final car ride to starting a family can be, well, less than glamorous. Until now.

Celeb-approved maternity label HATCH is building upon its already impressive collection of gorgeous apparel designed for women to wear before, during, and after pregnancy by creating a special HATCH-to-Hospital line. These pieces — including an ultrasoft modal nightgown and a pair of luxurious, cashmere socks — have been specifically created to make the transition a whole lot comfier (and prettier) than a generic hospital gown. Plus, HATCH even eliminates the stress of wondering what to pack for those first few days of motherhood by delivering everything in one sweet, simple box.

Best of all, in honor of Pregnancy Awareness Month, HATCH is teaming up with GILT to offer HATCH-to-Hospital Box at 20 percent off the original $248 price tag. Until May 22, you can snag the perfect gift for all your mother-to-be girlfriends at a comfy price. Your friends, their partners, and your wallet will thank you.

James Brown On Kate and Sienna's Hair, Hating Ombre, And Why You Should Go Short This Summer So, you've finally perfected Kate Moss' classic feline flick. Step two: Scoring her irresistible mussed-but-not-messy bedhead. And who better to consult than the supermodel's mane man, hairstylist James Brown?

In addition to working magic on star clients like Moss and Sienna Miller, the Croydon-born beauty pro has several TV projects and his own hair product line under his belt. This year also marks his 20th year in the business — not bad for a wannabe jockey who grew up slicing and dicing the hair of his sisters' dolls.

Here, Brown reveals what it's like to work on the most famous heads in Hollywood, how Karl Lagerfeld took him under his wing, and why he wants people to just quit it with the ombré already.

When did you first realise you wanted to do hair?
"All my life I wanted to be a jockey, but at age 12 I was very tall and they thought I would fill out. I had three sisters, all with long hair to their waist, and my mum, and I always just loved their hair. So, basically from age 12, I wanted to be a hairdresser. It was all I wanted to do. I was obsessed. By age 14, I was cutting everyone’s hair in the neighbourhood. My sister had a collection of dolls and I would cut their hair."

Did you get in trouble?
"Oh my God! She cried. She had a collection that she’d had all her life. You know those Victorian ones with the velvet outfits and the long hair? I used to make them look like Debbie Harry."

It’s been 20 years since your first fashion shoot. Tell us about working with Kate Moss and Corinne Day.
"We were all very young and were just doing what we loved. That was Kate’s first-ever Vogue cover. It was certainly my first one, and I think I’m still the youngest hairstylist ever to have a cover. We were just working and doing what we loved — we didn’t really think about Vogue, or a cover, or anything like that. We were just doing pictures we loved. It was sort of a reaction to the Versace look and that really big hair, which wasn’t what I related to, that '90s excess. It was just a more simplified, beautiful, natural look. "

How does it feel to be celebrating your 20th anniversary?
"It feels really weird because I feel like I’ve just started. I don’t feel like I’ve been around that long, really. It’s just gone so quickly. But what’s been really funny is that last fashion season I was getting calls from different hair and makeup people and stylists and models, and a lot of the backstage reference pictures for the hair were early ones that I’d done with Kate. I was like, 'Wow, how has that happened?' It seems like yesterday, it really does. It was just such a fun time. It’s only now I realise how much fun it was, and how innocent we were. It was a really good era for me."

Are you doing anything special to celebrate?
"I’m just at the moment getting together a lot of my old covers and I’m going through my portfolio. I’ve got tear sheets that have been in storage for years, and I really didn’t realise how much I’d done. So, I’m just collecting all my stuff, and I possibly might do a book. I’m not sure yet. I’m just at the moment going through everything and see what there is. It’s been an amazing experience — quite cathartic."

What has been the proudest moment of your career, thus far?
"I think my first Vogue cover, just because I was so young. I don’t think anyone’s had one that young in terms of hair and makeup people. And, also bringing out my own range. I was proud that I was brave enough to do it."

Beauty Sleep, For Real: 6 Nighttime Masks That Work While You Snooze sleeping (or overnight) masks take all these factors out of the equation: They’re applied to a clean face right before bed and left there to absorb and moisturize the hell out of your skin while you sleep. The best part? When you wake from your blissful slumber, most of them don’t require so much as a rinse.

But these masks aren’t just built to meet the lazy girl’s MO — they work at night, while the skin is naturally healing itself and is primed to optimally receive nutrients. “At night, your body goes into repair mode,” says Dr. Jessica Krant, a New York City-based dermatologist. “It also allows your skin to start to work its recovery patterns and undo damage that was done during the day.”

Krant says these super-hydrating masks work to reduce water loss (and dry skin) by plumping and softening the outer cells of the skin and locking in hydration, making them a perfect nightcap to follow dehydrating office-air days or booze-tinged nights. Here are a few formulas we reach for to breathe life into tired skin. dr jar sized

Forget Fast Food — The Four Seasons Has An Awesome 500-Calorie Lunch Forget the fast-food chains and their super-sized combos. Allium at the Four Seasons has a new 500-calorie lunch that tastes way more sinful than it actually is — no joke. For just $25, you and the ladies who lunch can "indulge" on a gold baby beet salad with Greek yogurt; wild Alaskan halibut with smoked fingerling potatoes, ramps, asparagus, and chimichurri; and a 99% pure chocolate sorbet.

So, before you start talking about how tight your skirt is, this lunch is less decadent than the handfuls of treats you grab from the candy jar. And to make you feel even better about the calories you're consuming, almost all of the ingredients are sourced from local farms in the Midwest. Fast food what?

Dior Resort '14 Invites Us To Vacation Like A Modern-Day Princess
There were tailored, monochrome suits and colorblocked ladylike dresses that were perhaps proper but certainly not too prim. And, incorporating prints, Raf Simons swiped large, abstract graphics over sheer dresses, as well as smaller, colorful patterns that were seen in crop tops and pant embellishments. Other resort elements included silky briefs paired with flowing overcoats and bright evening dresses with skirts that danced like they were catching the breeze off the sea.

Of course, it's really no coincidence that Dior chose to present its resort '14 collection in Monaco, where one of the world's most recognized royals once resided. Deep cutouts and crop tops may have been a bit risqué for Princess Grace, but this was certainly a collection that embodies all the elegance of the late, great style icon. Ahead, view all the looks that have us fantasizing about distance shores and a closet fit for royalty. 01

Ke$ha's Makeunder Is As Wild As Her Usual Antics
There's something wild happening with Ke$ha, and it's not what you'd expect. The obsessive glitter compulsive, blue-lipstick-wearing proponent of Jack Daniels as a hygienic product is growing up and seemingly shedding her "TiK-ToK" partying days (okay, so maybe the latter is still relevant). Either way, Ke$ha's red carpet appearance at last night's Billboard Music Awards had us doing double takes. The pop star showed up wearing hardly any makeup and looking more fresh-faced than ever. Perhaps she was taking some cues from J. Lawr, because a little eyeliner and foundation was all Ke$ha needed to turn heads. Her sexy little black dress had a thigh-high slit — hey, she had to stay true to her crazy-beautiful persona somehow. (Us Weekly)

Yahoo's Tumblr Buyout Has Us Tumbling Over! This past week, news had been swirling over whether Yahoo and Tumblr were in talks for a buyout, and now it's officially confirmed that the Web giant has indeed claimed the much-beloved blogging site. Our go-to destination for hilarious GIFs, like Whilst In S.F., has pocketed a cool $1.1 billion in order for Yahoo to take ownership — not bad for a site that (only) makes $13.3 million in revenue each year.

While Tumblr's CEO and founder David Karp will keep running the site — he's locked in to a four-year contract — the question remains as to how the interface will change once Marissa Mayer gets her hands on it. (Get ready to see some ads popping up between those cat memes, devoted Tumblrs!) To prove she's in-tune with the Tumblr scene, Mayer posted her very own animated GIF to commemorate the new partnership. So, we're dying to know: Does the buyout have you stoked for what's to come, or were you as shocked as a Surprised Patrick Star? Holler at us in the comments! (Business Insider)

Estée Lauder Launches First New Fragrance In 10 Years & It's A Doozy In the beauty world, there are some hard and fast rules that are generally considered non-negotiable — bright lipstick and heavy eye makeup are usually not a good combination, washing your face at night is a must for perfect skin, BB creams will eventually take over the world. But, this fall, Estée Lauder is looking to shatter one of these edicts — that every fragrance should be comprised of a top, middle, and base note — with the launch of Modern Muse.

The first new scent for the storied brand in nearly a decade, Modern Muse plays off the "duality" of the modern woman by focusing not on the industry standard of a top, heart, and drydown, but on two scent accords that showcase that multi-faceted nature. There's the soft and feminine "Sparkling Jasmine" accord, balanced out by the strong and independent "Sleek Woods" accord.

Created by master perfumer Harry Fremont of Firmenich along with Karyn Khoury, senior vice president of corporate fragrance development worldwide for the Estée Lauder Cos., the scent is also unique because each accord features two different facets of the same ingredient: jasmine sambac in Sparkling Jasmine and patchouli in Sleek Woods.

"For us, the dual notes was a way to add some different quality, texture, and depth to the fragrance," says Fremont. "For example, for the jasmine sambac, the extract sambac is beautiful, but it doesn't have the richness and the body of the extract from China that we used. So, when you combine the two of them, you have the best of both worlds. When you use two products of the same ingredient, you get this texture that, for us, makes a difference. Just as the quality of a fabric makes a difference in the way a suit wears, it's the same for fragrance."

Good Morning America, The <em>Anchorman 2</em> Trailer Is Here In case all the news happening out in the world wasn't thrilling enough for you on this Monday morning, hows about starting your day off with Ron Burgundy? The official teaser trailer for the much-anticipated sequel to 2004's (yeah, it's been that long) Anchorman debuted today, and it's a tease if we've ever seen one.

There may not be any scenes from the movie included, but we're not complaining. Ron, Champ Kind, Brian Fantana, and Brick are back, and that's all we needed to get hooked. December seems like eons away, but we're patient, classy people — we're pretty sure we can hold out until then.

Taylor Swift Just Earned A Whole Bunch Of Funny Points With This GIF
Haters gonna hate, but we're having a mini-Jennifer-Lawrence moment with Taylor Swift in this GIF. While sashaying around the Billboard Music Awards party in an incredibly sparkly blue gown, Swift spotted — as is likely to happen at any such gathering — Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber exchanging a kiss. Though teen girls the world over are undoubtedly penning (or Tweeting) death threats as we speak, our reaction is somewhere between "aww" and Taylor's much more pointed body language. LOL, girl. LOL. Rihanna Sues Topshop, But It MAY Not Be In The Wrong There was a time when Rihanna seemed to be buddy-buddy with U.K. retailer Topshop, but at the moment, the friendship has been put on ice. The singer is currently suing the brand for using a picture of her face on a T-shirt without her consent. However, as WWD claims today, the lawsuit is a bit more tricky than meets the face eye. The fashion outlet reports that unlike the U.S., "there is no right of personality" in the U.K., meaning that Topshop's use of Rihanna's photo is fair game — as long as the company purchased it, of course.

RiRi does not quite see it the same way, as using a celebrity's image does suggest an endorsement by association. Which may or may not be okay, but, hey, you should ask first. The suit will be officially addressed at Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice this summer, where a decision will need to be made as to whether Rihanna has the right to know where her celebrity is being used...or if U.K. law rules. The Bowler Bag You'll Be Using All Season Long I've always believed that a bag can truly make or break your look, which is why I might have a tendency to collect them. Okay, it's really an obsession — I have over 50 (which is not necessarily a good thing when you live in a NYC apartment). Be it a high-end designer or an indie brand, a great bag does not need to be expensive to be fabulous.

I saw this bowler bag at T.J.Maxx last Saturday — the bright peach color practically screamed my name from across the store. The shape makes it incredibly versatile since it's big enough to stash all of my essentials, but still small enough to keep on my arm for an after-work champy at a hole-in-the-wall wine bar in Chelsea.

I think it's important to make purchases that make you feel good, too. A while back I made a rule that I would only buy pieces that make me feel happy, and this bag definitely fits the bill — a punchy color brightens up even the dreariest days in New York.

You Asked, We Answered: How To Fight Discoloration On Dark Skin Tones If there's one question that I get asked all the time, it's this one by Micaela S. from Chicago: "How does an African-American woman fight hyperpigmentation and discoloration nowadays?"

Sadly, Micaela, there isn’t a quick fix. There are drugstore brands that are specifically marketed towards women of color, but as many of my friends and I have learned, they don’t work well. In this case, you get what you pay for. Of course, the best solution is to seek the help of a dermatologist. However, if that isn’t an option, here are the products and treatments I've tried that have made a difference, ahead.
