Mostly known for her role as Kelly Kapoor on NBC's The Office, Mindy Kaling is undoubtedly one of today's most successful writers, producers, and actresses. She penned the hilarious Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) in 2011, which was lauded by fellow funny ladies Chelsea Handler and Lena Dunham and caused The New York Times to dub her "Tina Fey's cool little sister." Kaling is now writing and creating The Mindy Project on Fox, her very own sitcom based on the funny girl's life.
We've long belonged to the cult of Kaling (since her Kapoor days) and constantly dig her every-girl brand of humor, but recently, we've been fawning over her for a different reason: She's been seriously upping her red-carpet game. On Saturday, it wasn't Kaling's obviously endearing self that stole the show (because, like, that show is already stolen, right?), it was her major turn as a sartorial star.
While Kaling is ultimately known as a writer and producer, she has a third self-reported title (according to her Twitter, at least): "shopper". The actress has blogged (and tweeted, of course) about her love for style and glamour in the past — and her passion seems to be paying off. She looked especially gorgeous wearing a sleeveless, floor-length Max Mara gown to the Baby2Baby Gala in California, which honored beauty Jessica Alba's charitable efforts. At the gala, she had an angelic, almost Grecian presence — one we haven't seen before. It seems like Kaling might be leaving her "man-repelling" days behind (her words, not ours), and is really finding her own (and quite lovely) style.
