Miley Cyrus Always Does These 5 Things — & No One Has Noticed

In the nearly 15 years (!) that Miley Cyrus has been in the spotlight, her look has transformed more times than most people's do in a lifetime. Gone is the Cyrus of Hannah Montana fame, with her lip gloss and blunt bangs, as is her most-popular teen look: jet-black liner and hair to match. Heck, over the past year the star has even retired the wild makeup that embodied her early 20s in favor of an aesthetic that's more natural and understated.
Some might even say that Cyrus' evolution from rainbow club kid to low-key girl next door means her beauty tastes have been all over the map. While in many ways this is true (there's no denying she's a chameleon), there are a few things she's kept on rotation since her early years. The only difference between then and now? She's taken her love of color and glitter and hit the refresh button — much like she did with her sound in her new album, "Younger Now."
In honor of the star's 25th birthday, we're taking a deep dive into Cyrus' beauty look — past and present. We rounded up five looks she's loyal to, from barely-there eye makeup, to fun, matching hair accessories. Check 'em out, ahead.

1. Matchy-Matchy

We love a good matchy moment and clearly Cyrus does, too. On dozens of occasions, the star has coordinated her hair accessory with her outfit of choice. Case in point: This music note ribbon tied at the base of her high pony that brings her entire ensemble together on The Voice.

At the 2017 premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, Cyrus stepped out in yet another matchy-matchy look. To complement her floral dress, Cyrus sprinkled delicate floral hair pins through her French twist.

2. Bold Lipstick & Lots Of Lashes

Like many women before her, Cyrus is a fan of a classic crimson lip. Instead of pairing it with bold eyeshadow or an equally-classic cat-eye, she simply swipes on a heavy coat of black mascara. We've seen Cyrus sport the look on countless red carpets and in the music video for her 2013 hit "Wrecking Ball."

The look may be simple, but employing just two key products instantly brightens Cyrus' face and defines her eyes. It makes sense that the star would gravitate toward more minimal makeup techniques, seeing as she often does her own makeup for photoshoots and events.

Looking to cop the look but need a touch more definition? Tightlining your eyes will give the illusion of fuller lashes while still looking natural.

3. The Tendril

Cyrus has sported dozens of hairstyles over the years, but none of them have really stuck with the star quite like the tendril. The little sliver of fringe that pokes out of all the star's updos has cemented itself into Cyrus' signature look. Whether she's going for rockabilly chic at the MTV Video Music Awards or coaching on set at The Voice, the tendril is always around.

If you have cheek-grazing layers like Cyrus, copying the look is a simple process. Start by pulling your hair into a high ponytail, making sure to leave about an inch of hair out near your hairline. Then, using a curling iron or straightener, depending on your texture, curl or define the piece of hair to frame your face.

4. Glitter Bomb

We don't have to tell you that Cyrus loves a good glitter moment (remember the glittersplosion that was Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz?) so it comes as no surprise that the star has used shimmer a number of ways throughout the years. The star sprinkled it along her part for the Met Gala.

At the iHeartRadio Music Awards, the star supported her sister, Noah, by writing Noah's name on her temple in silver glitter. Want to honor your own B.F.F? Reach for a silver liquid liner like this one.

5. Visible Roots

For the first time since going platinum in 2012, Cyrus is (quite literally) going back to her roots. Rather than chopping off her platinum hair, or dying it during the transition, Cyrus has decided to embrace a two-toned look.

"I like blonde and brown — now I don't have to choose," the star said in an interview on The Cooper Lawrence Show. Getting the look at home will require an appointment with your colorist. If your hair is already bleached and you've been thinking of growing it out, though, Cyrus proves it couldn't be easier.
