You CAN Look Glam On The Beach — Here's How!

Summertime, and the living should be easy — except when it comes to your beauty routine! Although we dream of looking effortlessly glam by the seashore, more often than not, the sweat-'n'-sand, greasy-sunblock combo leaves us with shiny skin and smudgy mascara. Yup, no one wants to be that girl — you know, the one on the beach with warrior-paint makeup and limp locks. Where's the fun in that?!
To help you get chic, here are two runway-inspired looks that are easy to DIY for a day by the shore (we promise, no super-involved steps here). Both looks are natural and feminine, but with a nice dose of fashion-forward edge — you'll be channeling Splash-era Daryl Hannah in no time.

This surf-inspired look combines a fresh-faced glow with a graphic eye. Summer vixen, much?

Begin with a clean face — your favorite tinted sunscreen would be perfect here — and groomed brows (the perfect easy, smudgeproof way to add polish to any look).

To start, prep the eye with a neutral shadow to create an even canvas ("Vapour or Brule by MAC work well for lighter skin tones," says makeup artist Erin Moffett). Next, take a bright-blue aqua eyeliner and apply it to the creases of your eyes — Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Turquoise was used here.

Apply the liner just above the eye, following the shape of your lid, from the inside corner to the outside of the lid. "Once you're drawn the line, smudge it just a bit with a brush to make sure the edges aren't too hard," says Moffett. Placing the color here, rather than at the lashline, is what gives this look a runway-inspired edge.

Apply just a bit of waterproof black mascara for contrast — Moffett likes cult-classic L'Oréal Voluminous.

Finish with a lip balm (Moffett likes the all-natural Earth Tu Face Skin Stick) topped with a nude mauve lipstick like Bite Beauty Luminous Crème Lipstick in Salut — it'll provide polish without competing with your aqua-cool eye.

The final result is polished and girly, but with a cool fashion edge.

Another fresh way to sport color, this look provides a little bit of sex appeal while keeping the overall effect bright and summery.

Start by smudging an electric-navy eyeliner along your lower lashline — Moffett used Sephora Collection's Waterproof Countour Eye Pencil in My Boyfriend's Jeans. The happy bonus? It'll only look hotter as the bright shade smudges over the course of the day.

Add a bit of black waterproof mascara on your top lashline only — this will ensure that your mascara won't muddy up the pretty indigo color on the bottom.

Add a bit of ballet-pink blush to your cheeks for a glow that won't look garish in harsh sunlight — Moffett loves NARS Blush in Gaeity.

Finish with light lip stain such as Charmed by Tarte, and a coat of nude gloss for a hint of shine (try Smashbox Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss in Buff).

Done. Surf and sand, here you come!
