Only In L.A.: The $18,000 Flip-Flops

We’ve heard of million-dollar bras, and hummed along to "Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes," but would you ever consider dropping a cool $18,000 on a pair of flip-flops? Well,
Chipkos
, an L.A.-based footwear brand is banking on the fact that you will, because they’ve just debuted a flip-flop collab with artist David Palmer, and the shoes are retailing for $18,000. Now, before you launch into an argument about excess and poor taste, chew on this: Each pair sold will also buy 100,000 square feet of Costa Rican rainforest, an introduction to Palmer, a night at the LEED-certified Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, and they’re even throwing in a complimentary piece of Palmer’s reclaimed wood and glass artwork. With all those add-ons, it seems like a pair of summer shoes for 18K is actually quite a steal. (ArtInfo)
