Kerry Washington’s New Magazine Cover Is Causing A Scandal

Another magazine cover, another Photoshop scandal.  Yesterday, Scandal actress Kerry Washington took to Instagram to reveal her first appearance on the cover of InStyle. "I'm THRILLED to share with you all that I'm on the cover of this year's March @instylemagazine! Can't wait for you guys to see it and read it! So honored. And, crazy excited," she wrote. While the comments were plenty, they weren't focused on Ms. Washington's very obvious beauty, but rather on her complexion. Fans on Twitter were overwhelmingly negative about the new cover, too. Many believe the magazine went a little crazy on the Photoshop, changing her nose, lips, and, most notably, her skin color — saying she resembles Zoe Saldana or Halle Berry, actresses with much lighter skin tones. The magazine quickly issued a statement in response, attributing the snafu to lighting: "While we did not digitally lighten Kerry’s skin tone, our cover lighting has likely contributed to this concern. We understand that this has resulted in disappointment and hurt. We are listening, and the feedback has been valuable."  This isn't the first time a magazine has altered our beloved gladiator's looks. Many were up in arms about her Lucky debut last year, in which the shopping mag rendered her basically unrecognizable. (We have to ask: If even the Duchess of Cambridge fell victim to a Photoshop fail just last week, is nobody's face sacred anymore?) While the Internet has voiced its opinions on the matter, we want to know what you think: Did InStyle overdo it, or is this much ado about nothing? Let us know in the comments.
