Gwyneth Paltrow knows what you say about her on the Internet. She made a surprise appearance at Code Conference, a media and technology event in Los Angeles, where she discussed her thoughts on the often hateful comments that are directed at her daily.
"It has nothing to do with me," she said. "They have an internal object, and they’re putting it on me." She spoke about the pitfalls of the web, saying that while the Internet gives us opportunities to learn, it "also allows us the opportunity to project outward our hatred, our jealousy." But, despite the constant bombardment of negativity, she's determined to not let it bother her. She explained that she's finally able to not take other people's opinions personally. "I see myself as a chalkboard or a whiteboard or a screen, and someone is just putting up their own projection on it,” she said.
No matter your opinion on Paltrow, we've got to hand it to her for standing up for herself. And, honestly, who really likes Internet trolls, anyway? (Re/Code)
