New Filmmakers Made It To The Oscars, Thanks To Ellen

Hollywood power players won't be the only ones on the Oscars stage come March 2. Six college filmmakers, who were just announced on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, will get the chance to participate in the big night, too. How'd they get so lucky?
The students entered a contest created by the producers of the Academy Awards, each submitting a 60-second video about how they plan to contribute to the film industry. The winners will hand Oscar statuettes to celebrity presenters during the show and will also participate in studio tours and meet-and-greets with filmmakers leading up to the event. (You don't have to be a film major to be jealous of that!)
So, is the next Scorsese in the bunch? Check out all of their submissions here to see for yourself. We have a feeling it's only a matter of time before these six budding directors, producers, and editors make it to the Oscars all on their own. (Variety)
