Sex Will Be Boring In 2014 — Bummer

You all probably fancied yourselves quite innovative in the bedroom these past couple of years. In fact, according to LELO's 2012 Global Sex Survey, almost 60% of couples used sex toys. Indeed, the last two years have been about all things kinky (we're looking at you, Fifty Shades). But, a new study by LELO hints at the onset of entirely different attitude, predicting that 2014 is the year of the Vanilla Revolution. And, it's as tame as it sounds.
Say goodbye to the whips and BDSM accessories. Purchases of such items plateaued at the end of this year, which is significant when compared to the 50% increase in sales during the same period in 2012. Rather, the study shows a rise in the number of people investing in sexy toys that increase intimacy between partners — sales of premium couples massagers and vibrating couples' rings have increased by 82% compared with the same period last year. It appears we, as a sexual population, are losing the leather harnesses and focusing a little more on foreplay. And, who can blame us? We were exhausted just reading E.L. James' trilogy.
Think LELO's wrong? Are you convinced you're going to remain on the cutting edge of sex? Sign up for the 2013 survey and set the record straight. Otherwise, prepare for a back-to-basics year in the bedroom.
