Mindy Kaling Channels Our Favorite Simpsons Character For Glamour

If Mindy Kaling was a Springfield resident, we could imagine her more as the self-deprecating, silver-tongued Lisa. But Marge is good, too, since she always comes through in the end, and, let's face it, she is the real brains of the Simpsons' operation.
So, for the October issue of Glamour, and in promotion of her new comedy series, The Mindy Kaling Project, The Office alum talks the new definition of female characters. Since her start at The Office, Kaling has perceived that ladies have evolved on the small screen — they are able to be depicted as more flawed and nuanced than ever.
It is this particular depth that she sees in beehive-bedecked Marge Simpson. Kaling says, "Marge Simpson is the one who's really funny. Her character looks so crazy, but then she's supposed to be totally demure. I think [Simpsons creator] Matt Groening is a genius for giving her that hair." (Glamour)
