Exclusive: Lisa Salzer’s Epic Road-Trip Photo Diary

For Lulu Frost's spring '11 collection, designer Lisa Salzer didn't exactly take the normal route when it came to research and inspiration. True to her unconventional pieces, Salzer temporarily packed up her SoHo studio and embarked on a Lewis & Clark-like road-trip in a humongo Suburban across the Pacific Northwest and Canada. Lucky for us, the jeweler also brought along photog boyfriend Billy Farrell, who snapped their adventures under the stars (it's called roughing it!), antique-ing, and, of course, turning into the Karate Kid after a couple (a bottle?) glasses of vino. While we haven't peeped the entire collection, aptly dubbed "Modern Pioneer" (her NYFW presentation is Monday), she tells us to expect lots of turquoise, Fools Gold, porcupine quills, and weathered suede for a look that the settlers would have envied. Guys, can we pretty please come with you next time?!
