Proving that models act awkwardly no matter in what language, Liu Wen takes us on a trip from Chinatown to NYC pool in this Nowness film, where she gets taught how to swim by a random guy she meets on the 6 train. And by swim, we mean kinda float so as not to mess up her makeup. But we can't really blame her technique, since the only lesson the guy really gives her is to "breathe"—which is fine and all, but try dumping in a bunch of non-swimmers into the middle of Lake Erie and telling them to breathe themselves to shore. The new Nowness film is made by photographer Poppy de Villeneuve, so it's gorgeous and mysterious and makes her own stomping grounds look nearly glamorous—but may we suggest getting Liu some water wings for her next swimming lesson?
