These Brand-New IIIbeca Bags Pack A Charitable Punch

Though our lunch-box-carrying, bus-riding school days have long passed, we'll happily channel our childhood spirit for September’s much-awaited, back-to-school shopping experience. Sure, we love an excuse to go crazy on office supplies (who doesn’t feel the need for a new set of Post-its come fall?), but nothing can beat a new bag to tote around.
Rising to the top of our accessories class is a new collection of bags from designer and longtime TriBeCa resident Joy Gryson. Merging her design savvy — she’s worked for fashion powerhouses Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Coach — with her charitable mind-set and love for NYC, Joy created her fall/winter collection, IIIbeca by Joy Gryson. With four different bag styles to choose from, not to mention, an array of colors, these classically designed, go-with-any-outfit, leather beauties are as practical as they are pretty. Each comes with a removable nylon pouch that snaps in and out of place, doubling as a knapsack.
And, talk about a triple major: 3% of profits will benefit three different NY-based, non-profit charities (Family Focus Adoption Services, the 911 Memorial Fund, and the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center). If you're a model student like us, you'll want to attend the July 25 exclusive launch party at Scoop, but if you can't make it, you can purchase your pick on Scoop's website. With each bag priced under $200, you'll have enough extra dough for oxfords, fall cardigans, and that No. 2 pencil, er, skirt, you've been eyeing.
When: Wednesday, July 25, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Scoop Women, 861 Washington Street (between 13th and 14th streets); 212-691-1905. RSVP to
