CA Finds Funeral Home-Worthy Levels Of Formaldehyde In Brazilian Blowouts

Dying for straight, frizz free locks? California is taking big leaps to ban Brazilian Blowouts after testing two samples of the brand's Smoothing Serum. The superior court of California has filed a proposed preliminary injunction against the makers of Brazilian Blowout, GIB LLC, after approximately 8% formaldehyde was found in the recipe, the typical ratio found in embalming fluid used by funeral homes. A hazard alert has been issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration under the Department of Labor warning stylists and consumers that the serious health risks posed by the product. Looks like it's time to pull out the good ol' straightening iron again. (WWD)
