If ever there was a maverick style icon of our times, it's Ellen Degeneres. Her particular brand of effortless, tomboy style is a refreshing alternative to the ball gowns and lacquered pumps of her contemporaries. With her fitted suits, white sneakers, and preppy sweaters, Degeneres is the poster child for people who hate wearing dresses…even to the dressiest sorts of events. For last night's People's Choice Awards, Degeneres went in favor of a crazy-good off-white baseball-jacket-and-trouser "suit." No — it's not MaxMara or Public School (though it's got the chops to be either). It's an Ellen Degeneres original, and you can get one yourself in a couple months.
The suit is part of her new E.D. line of lifestyle products that Degeneres created with J. Christopher Burch (who is the founder of the recently shuttered C. Wonder retail shop). Home goods and pet accessories are already available on QVC, but the delightfully tomboyish clothing will debut this spring.
If her home-goods line is any indication, there will be equal parts trad-flavored prep and animal puns (see here). We're thinking striped sweaters, crisp polos, daytime suits, and colorful fitted trousers. Oh, and that crazy-good off-white baseball-jacket-and-trouser "suit" that you're already thinking about wearing to that summer wedding you've got coming up.
