Denim Style- Taylor Patterson's Jeans Looks

Occupation: "I'm a florist, a gardner, and an all-around flower enthusiast. I own a floral business in Brooklyn called Fox Fodder Farm. When I was just out of college, I told myself that when I was old and retired from whatever crazy career I was destined to have, that I would be a florist. The thought of spending my days surrounded by flowers seemed like a dream. And after some serious consideration, I skipped the career and went straight to the retirement plan. Good thing, too — I don't imagine when I'm old I'll be able to do all the heavy lifting that goes into this business."

What were your first pair of jeans?
"Osh Kosh B'gosh white denim overalls with a paint-splatter print on them. I was probably eight. I wore those things every day, and cinch-rolled them at the bottom (that's what my older cousin did and she was the coolest)."

What are you wearing?
"I'm wearing Earnest Sewn 'Ginger' jeans, a Madewell button-down, a Margarette Howell vest, Dieppa Restrepo shoes, and an LFJ necklace. It's my uniform."

How many pairs of jeans do you own?
"Oh wow...I dont even know. Let me go count. Do I count the ones that don't fit anymore but that I can't bear to get rid of? One day. my hips might shrink back down to the size they were when I was 13...one day."

Do you have a preferred philosophy when it comes to jeans: Sexy and skinny, or loose and comfy?
"For me, and on the day to day, I like a higher-waisted slim fit... Not skin-tight (I need to be able to squat or do the casual lunge, you know?), but I don't want anything that starts fitted, and as the day goes on, gets saggy in the butt. That's the worst."

Used or new?
"Usually new."

What's your signature wash...or does it matter?
"It doesnt really matter. I tend to go for darker because they're generally more flattering, but then again, I'm currently pining after these rose-printed Current/Elliot jeans my friend Lizzie just picked up in San Fran."

What's your favorite way to wear your jeans and with what?
"I like to wear them with a T-shirt or button-down tucked in...and lipstick."

If your jeans had a name or theme song, what would it be? Or do they?
"A name? For my jeans? Let's be serious, I only name my shoes."

What's your favorite example of celebrity-jean wearing (i.e., Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA album cover)?
"John Prine's Sweat Revenge album cover...denim on denim. Like all good men do."

What do you love most about your favorite denim pieces?
"I always feel confident and comfortable when I'm in them."
