Venice—a city filled with many of the world's irreplaceable cultural treasures no matter your political, class, or religious affiliation—is slowly sinking into the sea. To help it survive the coming tide, some of the more generous members of New York's upper-tax bracket and a few of the city's favorite boldface names donned masks and black lace for the Save Venice Carnival. Celebrating 40 years of restoring artworks in the waterlogged town, the themed gala dinner at the Plaza Grand Ballroom featured a guest list including Brad Goreski, Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, Elisa Sednaoui, Natalie Obradovich, Amanda Hearst, Beatrix Ost, and many others drinking, dancing, and dropping checks.
