Good news: It's Thursday, and you're almost through this week! And while you probably have a laundry list of to-dos hanging over your head, it's time to sit back and let the feel-good vibes start the best way possible: with a heartwarming baby-animal video.
Captured by the L.A. Zoo, the three bundles of joy above are the latest arrivals, born at the end of March, for the zoo's endangered Giant River Otter family. As reported by local news station KTLA 5, these three (two male, one female) are the first born in the otters' new habitat, which was designed to help curb a high infant-mortality rate among otters in captivity. Why is it so high? “This could be due to a lot of different factors: stress, outside noise, or the female not being confident," Jennie Becker, Curator of Mammals at Los Angeles Zoo, said in a press release.
Luckily, this new habitat allows these new pups, their 10-month-old siblings, and their extended family more room to play, many areas to sleep and rest, and temperature-controlled holding areas, all in hopes of more reproduction of these at-risk critters.
