Lucy Hale Has A Ton Of Tattoos — & No One Has Noticed

We don't know her personally, but if we had to guess, we'd say that Lucy Hale's favorite things include her maltipoo Elvis (he's Instagram famous), her shoulder-grazing bob, and her unexpectedly huge tattoo collection.

Didn't know Hale had tattoos — let alone over 10? You're not alone: Although the former Pretty Little Liars star isn't shy when talking about her ink, she doesn't necessarily show them off on the 'gram every single day. But just because they're hard to hunt down doesn't mean they aren't worth checking out. In fact, with 14 pieces and counting, we can guarantee there's at least one minimal tattoo design you'll be eager to copy ASAP.

Ahead, Hale's 14 tattoos and their meanings.

Bow Tattoo

In 2009, about a year before Pretty Little Liars aired, Hale got her first tattoo of a bow on the back of her neck, courtesy of Dr. Woo — long before there was a waitlist for booking an appointment with the in-demand L.A. artist.

Sun Tattoo

If anyone knows how to find cute sister tattoos, it's Hale. "I have a little, tiny sun that I got with my sister in honor of our grandmother," she told us in 2017, although she never confirmed exactly when she and her sis got the ink.

"I love you"

A sun isn't the only matching tattoo Hale shares with her sister: In July 2018, they revealed via Instagram that they also got "I love you" inked onto their wrists. "Nothing says sisterly bonding more than permanently tattooing your body," Hale wrote on Instagram. "After years of wanting our grandmother's writing, we did it! Our Grammy was our favorite person [and] now she’s even more a part of us." Hale also noted that this was one of her more painful tattoos.

Around this time last year, Hale visited Bayon Tattoo in Cambodia for a teeny-tiny elephant ditch tattoo.

Crescent Moon

Even Hale likes to get tattoos that are purely for aesthetic — rather than sentimental — reasons. She told Refinery29 that she got the crescent moon tattoo on her back in 2017 because she "just wanted it."

Hale's first name in Latin means "as of light," hence the lightbulb. "This is a representation of my name," she told People, adding that this is the most meaningful design out of her collection.

Considering the Latin translation of Hale's name, this tattoo might echo the same meaning. Although she's never confirmed it goes hand-in-hand with the bulb design, we can't imagine it's a far-off theory.

Celebrities love getting matching cast tattoos, and when Pretty Little Liars wrapped filming in late 2016, the ensemble of actresses were no exception. The "A" initial on Hale's finger didn't just mark the ending of the series that shot her straight to stardom, but acted as a sentimental farewell to her character, Aria Montgomery, and her co-stars — who also have their characters' initials inked in the same spot.

"Catch the foxes for us"

Hale confirmed that, yes, this is a quote from a bible verse, specifically from Song of Solomon 2:15, which says, "Catch the foxes for us/ the little foxes/ that spoil the vineyards/ for our vineyards are in blossom."

"Courage, dear heart”

Hale told us that her under-boob tattoo is a quote from C.S. Lewis' The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, one of the books in the Chronicles of Narnia series.

Evil Eye

In 2017, Dr. Woo added an evil eye tattoo to Hale's ever-growing collection to "ward off evil."

"Love her but leave her wild"

Hale got this quote tattoo with her best friend, Annie Leonard, courtesy of tattoo artist Daniel Winter in L.A. The fine-lined tattoo originates from a poem by New York Times bestselling author and poet Atticus.

Intertwined Arms

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Hale explained that this dainty arm tattoo comes with an empowering message. "I got this tattoo... as a symbol of self-love," she wrote. "And that’s what this last year has been about...being alone (but not lonely), not settling, and truly finding my inner light & loving who I am."

Although Hale didn't show off the ink until February 2019, the tattoo artist behind it, Rob Green, revealed the delicate tattoo two months prior. The fine-lined drawing was originally designed by French artist Frédéric Forest.

Gemini Constellation

Hale recently added a zodiac tattoo to the mix, but this isn't just a random cluster of stars: She got her sign, Gemini, and its accompanying constellation etched onto the inside of her right arm.
