Natasha Poly Shows Us Her Full Makeup Routine — & It's Luxe

There's normal, everyday kind of beauty — and then there's supermodel Natasha Poly. Her skin is preternaturally glow-y, her cheekbones touch the heavens, oh, and she's warm, gracious, and down to talk makeup for hours.
Because between photoshoots for Vogue and ruling the runways, Poly puts on her own makeup — just like the rest of us. Her favorite products include the eye candy items you would expect to find on a beauty and fashion icon's vanity — think YSL and Givenchy —but what we're really obsessed with is her precise application skills.
Ahead, watch Poly go through her full routine, then read on to pick up all the blending, buffing, and sculpting tricks that she's picked up from the best pros in the business.

Even models require a bit of prep to go from just-rolled-out-of-bed to cool and effortlessly off-duty. Here's how she gets it done — in record time, to boot.

For her base, Poly uses the Make Up For Ever stick foundation, which gives skin instant glow-y coverage in just a few swipes. "I use it with a brush and a sponge," Poly explains. "I first spread it on with a brush, then I use the sponge to take the extra off so it has a thinner texture and it's pressed into my skin, not sitting on top of it."

The next product she whips out? YSL Touche Éclat, a highlighting-slash-concealing hybrid that beauty girls can't get enough of.

Poly affectionately refers to it as "her gold pen," which she uses as the first step in her two-part concealing routine. "I use the gold pen to draw lines under my eyes, on top of my nose, on the smile wrinkles around my lips, then a dab on my chin, on my cheekbones, and on the bone of my eyebrows," she says.

The second step in concealing is using a drier powder on top of the liquid to get a texture with more staying power. Poly loves the camouflage concealing compact by Laura Mercier. She takes a brush (she uses the super-soft Shiseido ones for blending her foundation and concealer) and uses the lighter shade in the camouflage palette. "It gives a more matte finish, because the YSL has a very watery texture and the Laura Mercier is very dry, so together, it's the best coverage," she explains. To perfect the finish, she dabs her makeup sponge over the powder.

Poly admits that she loves chiseling out her already-defined cheekbones with a good contour. "I apply the contour on my cheeks to make them a little sharper," she says. For getting the contour on point, Poly uses the Kevyn Aucoin Making Faces makeup set. "I brush the darker shade along my jawline, on top of my forehead, and around the halo of my face," she says. "I also use some blush from that palette to make my cheeks look a little bit fresher."

For shadow, the model keeps it pretty low-key. While the Tartelette In the Bloom shadow palette would be perfect for a full-lid burgundy Bardot look, she sticks with the more muted browns and nudes. "I use the darker brown to shape up the crease of the eyelid — really just on the crease, and then I blend it out," she says. Soft and dry shadows are great for focused color that's blendable and buildable.

This Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose Quartz isn't just pretty to look at — it also delivers a subtle illuminating highlight. The shimmer brick's marketed as a highlighter, but Poly uses it as a shadow, placing a little bit on the middle of her eyelids. "It's makes the lid a little sparkly, which just makes me look more awake," she says. Poly tells us this is one of her travel must-haves because it works as a shadow and a full-face highlight — girl loves a good 2-in-1 like the rest of us.

Something that doesn't show up in the video, but Poly admittedly can't live without is Chanel's waterproof eye pencil in Noir, the blackest black. "The waterproof formula is great because it stays on all day long and has a drier finish, so it doesn't smudge," she says. "I like to apply it between my eyelashes, just on the roots, so it's super-natural and lived-in."

For mascara, Poly is devoted to the (sadly, discontinued) Nars waterproof Larger Than Life formula. "It's the best — and it really lifts my lashes so they stay put all day," she tells us. She's hoping they bring it back — and now we are, too.

Poly doesn't do much for her naturally thick brows, but says she'll sometimes use a MAC dry brow pencil in a dark blonde shade to fill in any sparse areas. Normally, though, a clear brow gel (the one from ABH is her favorite) is all that's needed to keep her hairs in place.

"I use the Hourglass highlighter on my cheekbones, below my eyebrow, in the middle of the chin, and down the nose," says Poly. She uses the middle shade in the trio for a soft and subtle glow.

Meet the compact that works for getting a sun-kissed bronze in everyday life and on glam nights. "I apply this bronzer along the frame of my face, then add a little bit on the middle of my cheeks with a big fluffy brush, which makes the color look subtle and natural," she says. "Plus, it's amazing for red carpet looks because it looks like I've just been in the sun."

For her lips, it's classic nude all the way. She uses the MAC Lip Pencil in Oak, a soft beige, to define her mouth.

Setting powder locks the model's work in place. "I like the Clarins powder compact because it's translucent and it comes with blotting papers to get rid of any shine," says Poly. And after the light powder dusting, she doesn't reach for a dewy skin mist: "I don't trust setting sprays — or I haven't found the right one yet," she tells us. Hey, she still glows.
