Having a hangover on hump day is never a fun thing, but perhaps last night's rad rager at the Boom Boom Room (sadly closed for the summer, though Le Bain still rocks on) was worth how we're feeling right now. The party in question was the Reeve Champions Summer Party, hosted by Hayden Christensen, Alexandra and Matthew Reeve, Francesco Clark, and Elisa Lipsky-Karasz. The ticket price to the benefit helped the Christopher + Dana Reeve Foundation, and paid tribute to the 20th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act. Our personal hero, Clark (the founder of Clark's Botanicals), gave an impassioned speech that detailed his paralysis and the support he's gotten from everyone who attended. But it wasn't all seriousness—cheeseburgers, multiple Vodka tonics, and some B-52 tunes helped lighten the mood. At one point, we may have pretended we were smokers in order to chat up a very recently single Hayden Christensen, who seemed more interested in our date, Louise Roe, than our New York Editor (sadly, the Gay-den rumors aren't true). And, with a Dior Beauty bag stuffed with goodies, the night ended on a high note. Well, maybe not...we may have headed over to Brinkley's to sing some tunes (specifically "Hey Big Spender") with some resulting mobile uploads that were far from classy.
