Foiled Again!!! Silver and Gold Looks Glitter on the Runway

foiled0926a
Over here in New York, we're practical and, if you think about it, a little puritan in our color palettes. Gothamites prefer black, black, and…um, well…black. But over in London and Milan, designers have far less compunction about drawing attention to the ladies who wear their dresses. Every few seasons, we see a number of tin women trot down the runway wearing foil-like metallic dresses that shine like a Rolls-Royce hood ornament or an Oscar statue. Prada, Marios Schwab, and, you know it, Versace all gave us shiny, shiny dresses that seem to have walked out of Ali Babba's treasure vault (or a Hype Williams video). Seems a little prescient given that everyone's pulling their money out of stocks and securities these days and investing in precious metals.
