Oh Boy! Boy By Band Of Outsiders Channels A Very Sweet Diane Keaton

Apparently Scott Sternberg, the designer behind Boy by Band of Outsiders (and its much-beloved older cousin, Band of Outsiders), is a big Diane Keaton fan. Specifically the eccentric actress' starring role in the 1979 Woody Allen-directed classic Manhattan, where she plays Mary Wilkie, a woman who straddles two love triangles with a distinctive pretention and even more distinctive style.
Sternberg, who admits he's seen the movie "15 times," based the pre-fall '12 collection for BBBOO on Keaton's character, including her "corduroy suits, button-ups, a certain type of plaid, [and] a high neck." Sternberg, no surprise here (he's funny!), says "I also respond to her sense of humor and not taking herself so seriously, something I tried to inject into the collection as well." The result is certainly vintage Keaton, albeit with a fresh, sweet update. Look for above-the-knee camel and gray wool coats, pleated skirts, and, naturally, fresh takes on plaid, plus some velvet suits that we imagine Keaton would wear on the red carpet today. We know what's moving to the front of our Netflix queue, just in time for vacation....
