One of our very fave bookstores (and a gallery to boot), Clic, has a dope new exhibition, EXOTICA, that will put you in the mood to have your own exotic adventure. The show highlights the work of
Gian Paolo Barbieri
, a world famous photographer whose dreamy editorials have been featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue Paris, and GQ. The shutterbug (who also has several books pubbed by Taschen), is known for his striking and sumptuous portraits of the people and wildlife of Madagascar, Tahiti and the Seychelles. His deep, Gaugin-esque love for Polynesian culture is apparent in the luscious duotone shots of frangipani blossoms, in-your-face muscles (with some full-body Tahitian tattoos that have got us saying ouch), and banana plants. In addition to the far-away, Barbieri moves a little closer to our territory with his collaborations with fashion houses and celebrities, including his famous photographs of Audrey Hepburn, Angelica Huston, and Iman.
