When we started Refinery29 Twitch over a year ago, we knew we wanted to use it not only to provide a fun, safe space for women and non-binary folks to share in their love of gaming, but also to spotlight the pros, gamers, and streamers who are pushing the status quo in the industry both online and IRL. But with a vast world of content creators competing for attention on Twitch alone, finding streamers who you love can be a challenge.
Enter Tuesday Takeovers, where we invite some of our fave under-the-radar streamers onto our channel to do what they do best: game. Think of it as the Discover Weekly of Twitch where you’ll have two hours of guaranteed entertainment weekly, while also discovering talented streamers who are more than worthy of you clicking the follow or subscribe button. Ahead, read on to meet the Twitch streamers who are all about inclusivity, connecting with others, and having fun.

Hyjules takes her work/life balance seriously — and that extends to her content approach. The variety streamer describes her Twitch channel as 50 percent work, 50 percent play, which means you can expect an equal mix of study-space streams (Hyjules is currently working towards her master’s degree in environmental justice and urban planning) and gameplay. When it comes to gaming, she prefers fantasy titles with rich storytelling, and is also a huge fan of Valorant. Beyond that, Hyjules is a mentor in the Twitch Latin Guild, and is always looking to share her culture while supporting other Latinx folks in her community. She’s even a finalist in two categories at the 2024 BIPOC Streamer Awards, honoring her efforts to build a strong online community (she calls hers “The Cat Cafe”) and using her platform to raise visibility for the queer community.
AshleyThaBest first started streaming in 2017, and it’s safe to say it’s had a huge impact on her life. “Streaming started off as a hobby for me, but has grown into a career that has helped me travel, meet new people, and learn quality life lessons that helped me become who I am today,” she writes. She, naturally, loves gaming (her go-to title is Call of Duty), but she also loves connecting with people and says she has made life-long friends as her community — which prioritizes being a safe space — has grown, making her channel the perfect hang out spot.

Amisometimes is such an engaging streamer, she’s hosted a Tuesday Takeover for us twice. Against a backdrop of Jackbox, Final Fantasy, and other games, she’s used her channel to create a community-first space where everyone is free to talk about everything from mental health, memes, and her passion for bees. Many of Amisometimes’ community members affectionately refer to her as “mother” because of her willingness to offer candid, helpful advice about anything they may be struggling with, including dating, coming out, and personal hygiene.
“Twitch’s big sister.” That’s how Marydearest starts her bio — and spend just a few minutes watching one of her streams, and you’ll understand why. She’s used her online platform to create a comfy space for all things cute, cozy, and inclusive. That means you can expect a lot of heart-warming video games and, of course, Nintendo faves like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which, frankly, we could always use more of.
A true creative at heart, Miao hopes to help people in their community stay motivated and reach their goals — whether they be related to school, work, or a personal project — by hosting friendly and cozy coworking streams. Based on that alone, you won’t be surprised Miao also prefers to stream cozy games that inspire creativity while discussing, but they also have a passion for creating food content (think: how to make a cheesecake in a rice cooker) on their TikTok.

Frequent Valorant player Ececlare happens to be a mom and a streamer. As a result, you can often hear her talking about motherhood, balance, and why it’s so important for parents to take time for themselves when they can. She also is interested in talking about women in gaming in general and likes to play Minecraft and RPGs as well.
Kiwisong calls her Twitch channel a “brave space.” What does that mean? Well, like so many other of our Tuesday Takeover hosts, she’s a community-focused streamer whose content juggles good vibes while not shying away from big topics like social justice, LGBTQIA+ representation, neurodivergence, and mental health. She’s also a charity streamer and is always raising awareness and support for National Children’s Alliance (for which she is a representative), an organization that advocates for child welfare.
