How To Donate Your Clothes To Goodwill, Without Leaving Your Home

For lazy girls, there's little we love more than getting an errand done with a tap of a button. And in the case of Uber, that has often meant ordering a car and giving a driver directions — even if you're not 100% sure of them yourself. But, come this Saturday, lazy errands can also turn into a good deed. In honor of the great spring clean — you know, the one you put off every year, only to feel amazing once it's done — Uber's going to help you clean out your closet.

On Saturday, May 2, Uber will add a "GIVE" option to its menu that sends an SUV to your pickup location to gather gently worn items of your closet — or pieces that just aren't you anymore. Teaming with Goodwill, the Uber driver will drop your package off at a local donation center.

Though we certainly have not been entirely happy with Uber drivers and the reported assaults from its passengers, with a recent change of leadership, we're optimistic this new initiative can be a huge help for those looking to donate items without the means to transport them. "Uber is committed to supporting our local community," says Josh Mohrer, Uber's New York general manager. "We are thrilled to team up with Goodwill to offer New Yorkers a quick and convenient way to donate clothes to an amazing cause." With #UberSpringCleaning available in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., start channeling your inner Kondo now. At this rate, you'll be done with your spring wardrobe sweep before the weekend is halfway over.
