Primary Election Day is here. And, while this year's polls are devoid of a media circus, supporters of local politics should still make their way to the voting booths before they close tonight at 9 p.m. This primary will determine who will be on the ballot for governor, lieutenant governor, state assembly, and state senate come November.
So, who's running? Current governor Andrew Cuomo and his lieutenant governor, Kathy Hochul are facing off against Zephyr Teachout and her running mate, Tim Wu. Cuomo is favored to come out on top thanks to his work towards passing same-sex marriage laws. Plus, he has support from power players including Hillary Clinton and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

While considered a long shot, Teachout — a professor at Fordham Law School — remains hopeful.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it," she told a crowd gathered in Union Square yesterday.
And, as she explained to The New York Times, "My first qualification for being the next governor of the State of New York is that I’m not under federal investigation."
