And, in 2014, it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single woman in possession of a good Internet connection must be in want of a wedding.
She might express these desires in the form of a Pinterest board. She most likely keeps this board hidden, lest her secret nuptial planning be discovered by a potential mate. Or, perhaps she's been helping a friend plan her wedding, so the board is not at all a secret. Still, this person is not getting married herself. She knows that. Everyone knows that.

Except, as it turns out, Pinterest doesn't know that. The company recently sent users with wedding-related pins an email that begins, "You're getting married!" Unfortunately, many of the recipients are not.
Pinterest has since apologized for the false positives (pinsitives?). In fact, it says technology is not to blame here, but rather the way in which the email was worded.
"Every week, we email collections of category-specific pins and boards to pinners we hope will be interested in them,” Barry Schnitt, Pinterest’s head of communications, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, one of these recent emails suggested that pinners were actually getting married, rather than just potentially interested in wedding-related content. We’re sorry we came off like an overbearing mother who’s always asking when you’ll settle down with a nice boy or girl."
Thank you for admitting you were wrong, Pinterest. And, for making a joke that hits entirely too close to home while doing so. (Washington Post)
