Chloe Sevigny longs for the good old days. The full-time fashionista and part-time actress sat down with The Daily Beast recently to discuss her role in the upcoming Whit Stillman-directed Amazon Prime show The Cosmopolitans.
However, the conversation quickly turned to the evolution of New York, the city Sevigny has called home since her '90s heyday as queen of the downtown scenesters, and her breakout role in the cult tome to teenage lovemaking, Kids.. It would appear that Sevigny still is still nostalgic for those days, and isn't too happy with the current state of her city.
"Walking around the East Village, I just want to cry at the state of it. There are so many fuckin’ jocks everywhere! It’s like a frat house everywhere," the actress said. "I don’t know if it’s a sign of the times, but where are the real weirdos? The real outcasts? They’re a vanishing breed here. Maybe New York isn’t drawing that anymore because it’s too expensive."
In fact, it was the expensive real estate that pushed Sevigny out of Manhattan. "I didn’t want to live in 'hip' Brooklyn, so I moved out to the dorkiest, hokiest neighborhood — Park Slope — and I’m really feeling the vibes out there," Sevigny said about her new digs across the river.
Now all she needs is a time machine. (The Daily Beast)
