Thom Browne's New Shades: Geriatric-Chic Or Just Geriatric?

It's a rare occasion that we're at a loss for words when it comes to, well, anything, but it's especially rare when we find ourselves tongue-tied over a new fashion piece. Alas, such is the case with Thom Browne's newest eyewear collection. Inspired by the bright colors of the madras and plaids shown in his spring '13 runway show, the unique sunnies are exactly that: unique.
While we're all for style that breaks the mold, we're just not sure how we feel about the colorful shades. Will they be flattering? Will the wrap-around sides double as protection from nosy onlookers? Questions abound. And, so, we turn to you, reader, to help us in this quandry. Are Thom Browne's newest sunglasses a successful fashion risk, or just too risky for their own good?
Thom Browne eyewear, $900 each, available at Thom Browne, 100 Hudson Street (between Franklin and Leonard streets); 212-633-1197.
