Speaking of the marathon, chef Danny Meyer of Union Square events created a pre-run dinner for 18,000 marathoners, which consisted of 2,050 pounds of pasta, 1,400 pounds of turkey sausage and roasted garlic, and 194 gallons of marinara sauce—for starters, of course. (New York Observer)
