MY NY: Richard Chai’s 5 Chill-Out NYC Spots

If you were in Tribeca last week, you might have heard a particularly loud scream right around our Leonard Street offices. No, we weren't bemoaning missing out on those Alaïa heels on the Outnet Sale—this was a shriek of pure OMG excitement. We just saw the samples from Richard Chai's k-k-killer collection with Alternative Apparel sold exclusively on Refinery29 Shops (starting today!), and Damn, is it a doozy! In honor of the CFDA-nominated designer's team-up with yours truly, we've got the skinny on his top NYC chill-out spots. From some charitable reads to major menswear, the dude who helped launch Marc by Marc Jacobs and revitalized TSE is giving you a chance to copy his itinerary. By following in his footsteps (literally), some of his sartorial magic might just rub off on you...
Here's the 5 NYC spots where Chai likes to chill:
1. Odin: "I may be biased, but I truly feel it's one of the best places to shop for menswear. Even with my family discount, I break the bank!" 199 Lafayette Street (between Broome and Kenmare streets); 212-966-0026

2. Bacaro: "It's the perfect place to have dinner and great wine with friends in a super cozy and intimate environment. Everything on the menu is amazing." 136 Division Street (between Canal and Orchard streets); 212-941-5060‎

3. Matthew Marks Gallery: "It's one of my favorite galleries in NYC, and I find such inspiration from the works of Goldin to Gursky that are shown there. It's great to pop by on a weekday when it's more low-key." 523 West 24th Street (between 10th and 11th avenues); 212-243-0200
4. Great Jones Spa: "For a quick and relaxing getaway in NYC." 29 Great Jones Street (between Lafayette Street and Bowery);212-505-3185
5. Housing Works Bookstore: "A fantastic bookstore where the staff are all volunteers and 100% of the profits go to Housing Works, Inc." 126 Crosby Street (between East Houston and Prince streets); 2120334-3324
