Every now and again, the Oscars have a truly glamorous moment. Not just the gowns worn by attendees, but the celebration of style, whimsy, and imagination are all truly toasted at the Academys. Without waxing poetic about the deserving crop of this year's movies, the costumes and fantastical imagery in flicks like My Week With Marilyn and Hugo set us spinning. And don't forget the lovely timelessness of The City Of Light as imagined by Woody Allen in Midnight in Paris.
To celebrate that specific sense of style, Gilt Home is hosting a special sale today auctioning off props from the movie, including Inez's (Rachel McAdams) Guerlain compact, Adriana's (Marion Cotillard) diary and cigarette holder, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's (Vincent Menjou Cortes) sketches and pastels, and way more. And, to make you feel better about parting with your cash, the sale of the items (many antiques) will benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It may not be the real Toulouse-Lautrec sketches, but it's certainly a piece of cinematic history, whether or not the film takes home Best Picture.
