Last year, we were the first in the States to bring you news of Madness, the duo from Jakarta who's traditional Indonesian, feather-and-ribbon-wrapped necklaces were a true and rare find. We'd never seen anything quite like their work (outside of National Geographic documentaries). Now the Madness project has taken their distinctively tribal work and added a goth twist along with pursues, shoes, leggings, and dresses. Again, ribbons and plumage are there for the having but—as the Marilyn-Manson-styled lookbook shows—adding a bit of Victoriana to the mix as well. Parrots, Javanese shadow puppets, and Robert Smith—it's madness that they could get away with it—but they do.
