"Actor and art gallery director. Currently, I'm a co-director of the 7Eleven Gallery, and can be seen playing a cop on the new CBS drama NYC 2-2."
What were your first pair of jeans?
"There are photos of me as a toddler in jeans, but my best memory of jeans from my childhood are jeans with big, white artificial flowers and black ribbons sewn on them, which I'd like to get my hands on now. I also recall a pair of cutoffs with black leather patches in the shape of hearts sewn on the back. I had those when I was about 10. I worked them both; I felt fabulous in them."
First look: "Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots, black skinny jeans from The Row, and an Alaïa leotard (stolen from my mom) under a vintage victorian blouse."
Second look: "Vivienne Westwood Pirate Boots, high-wasted J Brand skinny jeans, and a vintage Cramps tee. They're my two denim staples: A pair of high-wasted skinny blue jeans and a pair of black skinny jeans."
How many pairs of jeans do you own?
"I own 25 pairs. I had to go to my closet to count, and that doesn't include shorts. I never throw away jeans. I have four pairs that I got when I was 12 that I still wear."
Do you have a preferred philosophy when it comes to jeans: Sexy and skinny, or loose and comfy?
"I don't think about it that hard. I like them all."
Used or new?
"See question seven."
What's your signature wash...or does it matter?
"See question seven."
What's your favorite way to wear your jeans and with what?
"I like yin/yang in fashion; for example, butch jeans and shoes with a feminine blouse, or beat-up, work-splattered jeans or cutoffs with a beautifully cut top. I also have a beautiful underwear collection, so I like to wear jeans with a skimpy top and a forest-green bra, for example."
If your jeans had a name or theme song, what would it be? Or do they?
"Juvenile's 'Back That Ass Up.'"
What's your favorite example of celebrity jean-wearing (i.e., Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA album cover)?
Marilyn Monroe looked awfully good in The Misfits.
What do you love most about your favorite denim pieces?
"The ones that I've had forever have a history: When I was 10, my older sister and her popular girlfriends used to give me 'cool' lessons. They made me cut slits on the butts of all my jeans so my 'butt curl' would show, because thats what boys liked (of course at 10 I didn't have butt curls). I did this for years (and for years was sent to the principal's office), so some of my jeans have a million patches to correct this faux-pas, and they make me smile (although, I'll admit that I still do it to some of my new ones). In addition to this, a good pair of jeans are a good foil for showing off the rest of your wardrobe."
