Feist, Jeff Mangum, And More Amazing Shows To Catch This Week!

3shows

James Murphy & Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsytem), The Juan Maclean, Midnight Surfer, The House of Vans, November 1, FREE
Special Disco Versions (aka LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Pat Mahoney) have an uncanny ability to dig for deep cuts and spin them into a deja vu dance party you feel like you’ve been to a thousand times before (you haven’t). This free event, put on by Toyota Antics, also features The Juan Maclean, rounding out a night loaded with the best DFA has to offer. RSVP here.
Tuesday, November 1, 8 p.m., House of Vans, 25 Franklin St (at Meserole); Brooklyn

Feist, Brooklyn Academy Of Music, November 2, $54, $47.50, $40
Feist’s new record Metals may not have a “1234” but that’s probably for the best. Over the past few years, Leslie Feist’s music has matured, her sound has developed, and she’s plumbed new emotional depths. Feist’s show at the Brooklyn Academy is (unsurprisingly) sold out, but luckily there are more than a few tickets floating around on Craigslist.
Wednesday, November 2, 7 p.m., Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue (between Ashland Pl and St Felix St); Brooklyn; 718-636-4100 x1.

Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel), The Landmark Loews Jersey Theatre, November 5 and 6, $35
Buying a ticket for Jeff Mangum’s Saturday show at The Landmark Loews Jersey theater felt more than a little bit unreal. We know Mangum has played numerous times over the the past few months (even once at Occupy Wall Street), but it still seems too good to be true - can the reclusive genius responsible for In The Aeroplane Over the Sea really be back for good? Don’t ask questions, just get your tickets.
Saturday and Sunday, November 5 & 6, 6 p.m., The Landmark Loews Jersey Theatre; 54 Journal Square (at John F Kennedy Boulevard West); Jersey City, NJ; 201-798-6055.

Up for more? Here are some bonus shows:
SBTRKT and AraabMUZIK are playing the Bowery Ballroom on Halloween — fitting, considering SBTRKT never takes off his spooky tribal mask. October 31.
