It's amazing to think that radio has outlived records, 8-tracks, cassette players, and discmans, and continues to develop and thrive thanks to the ability to stream stations on computers and our newfangled smart phones. To celebrate this ancient and revered form of entertainment, independent radio station KEXP and Toyota Free Yr Radio have teamed up for the Second Annual Live Lobby Broadcasts from the Ace Hotel during the CMJ Music Marathon.
From October 19 through October 21, you can head down to the Ace Hotel gallery space to watch these amazing performances or tune in to hear them live. Artists include Zola Jesus, Widowspeak, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and more. Then, in the evening, DJs from independent record labels such as Beggars Group, Acephale, and Domino will rule the airwaves with their innovative mixes. Graphic Designer Art Chantry, who made posters for the likes of Nirvana and Hole in the 90s, will also be getting in on the action — you can check out his work in the gallery space at Ace, plus score an exclusive screen printed poster from him that was created just for the event and is only available at the hotel. Click here to check out the full schedule and tune in at the Ace Hotel, KEXP, and Free Yr Radio, for some of the best noise around.
