Normally, when we say the words "ballet" and "gala," well, "cool" isn't exactly next off the tips of our tongues. But, the American Ballet Theatre's 70th anniversary celebration has us changing our minds classical tunes.
Performance-wise, they're serving up a quartet, including two duets and a company-wide ensemble, then closing with Agnes de Mille's Rodeo. ABT is resurfacing the old classic from the dancer's prolific repertoire, whose 1942 premiere (70 years ago, to the day!) delivered generally game-changing, cinematic choreography. After final curtain, Refinery29 gal pal Harley Viera-Newtown will lend expertise on the ones and twos at the celebratory gala happening at the Pierre Hotel.
