Trend Alert: Thigh-High Socks And Spats Will Keep Your Legs Warm In 2010

While leggings were the transitional cold-weather item a couple years ago, tights were the must-have accessory for last fall. This season, the legwear of choice gets a little more cheeky. Thigh-high socks appeared at Karen Walker and Thakoon and offered that hint of sexiness under those bulky layers of coats and jackets. They appeared in the form of extra-slinky leg-warmers at Alexander Wang, and though hard to swallow (especially the ones made in chenille and velvet)—they will undoubtedly lengthen the number of months that you can reasonably take your mini-dresses out. A bit sexy, but so, so warm, thigh-highs embrace sensuality and practicality and cost just as much as your dinner. Frugal fashion-people, rejoice!
