Elon Musk has a vision for the future. Based on the big reveal at Thursday's Tesla event in Hawthorne, CA, that future will include driverless cars. Just not yet.
The anticipation was thick in the weeks leading up to the event, as some observers believed that Musk would unveil the world's first fully driverless car. It would have been a giant coup for trailblazing electric automobile company, which has been engaged in a furious race with Google to get the first driverless car on the road.
While the new Dual Motor Model S (otherwise known as "The D") isn't 100% automated, it does include features that suggest that fully driverless cars are not that far off.

The new electric sedan will feature radar and image recognition technology that will allow it to park itself, and sense upcoming obstacles on the road as well as potentially unsafe situations.
Musk — considered one of the world's leading visionaries — warned that the new hardware doesn't mean that drivers can fall asleep at the wheel. But, with the evolution towards driverless cars officially in full swing, we will all be living inside Minority Report soon enough.
