What Your Favorite Met Dresses Look Like As Art

By now, you've probably seen about a thousand photos from last night's Met Ball. You've read ad nauseam about the event's best- and worst-dressed. There was no shortage of high-impact gowns paying tribute to Charles James, the American designer honored in the Met's new exhibition. And, just because we couldn't see these outfits in the flesh, that doesn't mean we can't be excellent style-stalkers of the occasion. To celebrate the star-studded affair in a fresh way, we enlisted fashion illustrator Katie Rodgers to sketch her favorite moments from the night.

From SJP's dramatic petal dress to Suki Waterhouse's cotton-candy-like confection, Rodgers' illustrations captured the classic, romantic looks that defined this year's theme. The most impressive part? These gestural drawings — rendered in watercolors and garnished with rhinestones — were each created within the span of 10 minutes, using photos that appeared on the #metgala Instagram feed as inspiration.
