As much as we like dressing up for fancy dinners out on the town, it's just as fun to grab a beer and enjoy an evening that's little more low-key. Putting on the ritz is great and all, but doing it frequently certainly does a number on our bank accounts.
In full recognition of our Champagne-taste-beer-wallet problems, The Daily Meal rounded up the 50 best casual restaurants in America. Make no mistake, these joints make the list not just because you'll be overdressed in jeans and a T-shirt. The Daily Meal's panel of 500 food bloggers, writers, and journalists also took into consideration reputation, ambience, and food quality. But, the most important criteria? For $50 or less, you and your date will be able to enjoy a delicious dinner (but no alcohol).
NYC is a culinary haven, so it's no surprise that 13 local restaurants made the list, including cult favorites like Katz's Delicatessen and Ippudo. California comes in second with 12 spots. The sunshine state poses a serious threat to New York's status as the pizza capital of the U.S., with an equal number of pizzerias in the roundup.
Head over to The Daily Meal to read the full ranking, and keep the list handy next time you're looking for a top-notch meal on the cheap — your wallet (and your tastebuds) will thank you. (The Daily Meal)
