Grammy Noms Show Love For Jay Z, JT, & Lorde — Miley, Not So Much

It looks like Jay Z has gotten a belated birthday present: A total of nine Grammy nominations for Magna Carta...Holy Grail. Go ahead and treat yourself to a vegan cupcake, Mr. Carter.
Announced last night, nominations also spelled good news for Justin Timberlake, who racked up an impressive seven noms. Like Jay Z, however, he failed to make the cut for any of the top three awards (Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Record of the Year). This might pave the way for an Arcade Fire-style upset for emerging artists like Lorde, whose four nominations include ones for Song and Record of the Year.
Though Miley Cyrus didn't drum up any nominations for "Wrecking Ball" or "We Can't Stop" — them's the breaks — Taylor Swift, Sara Bareilles, Daft Punk, Kendrick Lamar, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will vie for Album of The Year. Katy Perry is having a strange morning, since "Roar" and the song that inspired it, "Brave", are going head-to-head. Those one-word titles must be good luck.
Even if your favorite artist got snubbed, be sure to tune in if only to find out if someone storms the stage should "Blurred Lines" (gah) win Record of the Year. (EW)
