The 10 Most In-Demand Companies Of 2018 With The Best Employee Perks

Photographed by Tayler Smith.
LinkedIn released its annual list of the 50 companies where its users want to work, and this year's results may raise a few eyebrows.
Many of the familiar tech, entertainment, and consulting juggernauts have claimed a space, as is to be expected. But what's interesting is how many of those same companies are currently under fire, whether it's Facebook and its data crisis, or Google (listed here under its parent company Alphabet) and its gender-wage lawsuit.
It seems, though, that the lure of world-class perks and big opportunities isn't scaring off the average job hunter — more than 546 million of whom are scouring the job and networking site for their next dream gig. LinkedIn says this year's research measured users' interactions with companies based on four metrics: "interest in the company, engagement with the company's employees, job demand, and employee retention."

Amazon

Amazon
Sector: Internet
Location: Seattle, WA
LinkedIn Followers: 4,314,119

Benefits: Amazon lacks the "marble floors or wood-panelled entryways" that may be found at other Fortune 500 companies, and LinkedIn editor-at-large George Anders says the business takes a "no-frills" approach to ambiance and offerings. Instead, possibly in support of its notorious reputation for having a "bruising" workplace culture, the main draw for Amazon employee hopefuls is letting their ambition run wild.

“You won't find extraordinary perks at the Seattle-based company, and the work tempo is famously intense. But for people who want to chase big dreams with giant-company resources at their disposal, the chance to make a mark at Amazon is an enticement that sells itself," Anders says.

Per LinkedIn, "they attract top talent by offering a corporate infrastructure that enables employees to see the impact of their work on a broad audience by not delaying launches with internal processes — even if employees need to find a vending machine for a snack."
