E.L.F. Cosmetics Is Giving Back To Animals In A Big Way This Month

Over the past year or so, makeup has proven to be a powerful tool for raising awareness — and thousands of dollars. The Lipstick Lobby, for example, has donated a portion of all proceeds to organizations including Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The anti-Trump company Lipslut sells lipsticks with the sole purpose of donating funds to human rights organizations.

Though it may sound trite at first, makeup with a message has proven to be hugely effective, with Lipslut recently announcing that it raised more than $100,000 for families affected by President Trump's zero-tolerance immigration policy.

Now E.l.f., an affordable vegan brand that's built its foundation around maintaining its cruelty-free status, is mixing makeup with a cause, too. This month, the company is proving its commitment to animal rights by teaming up with five equally passionate influencers who will use their platforms to spread awareness. Each influencer selected their favorite E.l.F. product, of which 10% of the sales through July 31 will go to their animal charity of choice.

Though the brand is known for its low prices, the reach of the influencers (more than 1.5 million and counting) and E.l.f's massive influence (with more than 200 stores nationwide) could drive thousands of dollars for charities that are in need of funding. Check out the five products, and the charities they're supporting, ahead.

With summer well under way, highlighter remains this season's constant — and the unofficial uniform of influencers everywhere. So it's no wonder that makeup blogger Tashina Combs, who's also known as @logicalharmony, picked E.L.F.'s highlighter infused with rose hip and grape oils as her favorite, with 10% of its proceeds going to The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, an organization committed to reducing animal testing in the cosmetics industry.

We told you bold, rainbow eyeshadows were gonna be a trend this summer. Makeup artist and blogger Jkissa seems to have gotten that memo too, with her choosing a 10-shade eyeshadow palette, with 10% of proceeds going to Angel City Pitbulls., an agency that works to fight the stigma against pitbulls and advocate for their rescuing and adoption.

We've long been fans of E.L.F.'s matte lip colors, and this particular matte lipstick comes in nine versatile shades that go from bright fuchsia to deep brown. This month, thanks to makeup and lifestyle blogger Jasmine Rose picking it as her favorite, 10% of proceeds go to Save the Elephants, which works to protect elephants from poachers and traffickers in Africa.

With glitter eyeshadows already a trend, eyeliner was the inevitable next step. Thanks to blogger Haley Wight, who goes by @cosmobyhaley on Instagram, 10% of sales from this eyeliner, that comes in four shades including gold and a pearlescent opal, go to The Gentle Barn, which rescues, rehabilitates, and offers sanctuary to severely abused domestic and farm animals.
