Aaliyah's fans know her older brother, Rashad Haughton, almost just as well as the late songstress. She brought him along to red carpet appearances, gushed about him in interviews, and even recorded a song with him. Now, Rashad is looking out for Aaliyah in that same way.
The actor and film director worked closely with MAC Cosmetics to create an Aaliyah makeup collection that honors his sister's life. The Haughton family was involved in all the details — including naming each shade — which makes this tribute especially personal. "We wanted the line to represent the totality of my sister's story in beauty," says Rashad. "There are products I named like 'Try Again,' 'Street Thang,' and 'More Than a Woman.' Other names I chose convey more aspects of my sister's life and experience."

"My sister's signature style could be described as the effortless balance between tomboy chic and feminine elegance. Early on was more of the former: baggy jeans, Timberland boots, bandanas, and dark sunglasses with the perfect amount of makeup to highlight her exquisite, angelic beauty."

"As her art evolved and she matured, it was only natural that more dresses and fitting silhouettes were embraced. The iconic makeup looks she created — sometimes with MAC products — began to take shape then."

"Her glam team was the best in the business. The reason why they had a platform for such creativity was because of my sister's professionalism, open-mindedness, and her own limitless imagination. She was always to set on time, or even early so they could create something that had never been seen before in a video or film. Aaliyah's ability to inspire and fill people with joy is why we got such groundbreaking results on all her projects."

"She loved experimenting. When she was young, she used to raid my closet and wear my clothes and play with my mother's makeup. When you go back and review her style and beauty evolution, it is quite evident that the rest was history."
