Starbucks Just Added Two New Frappuccinos To Its Permanent Menu

It was recently reported that Starbucks is planning to cut the number of specialty drink options, like themed Frappuccinos, by 30% and instead re-focus its attention on expanding its permanent menu. Already, we're seeing the coffee chain fulfill those claims with the introduction of two new Frappuccinos that are more toned down. Today, Starbucks released the Ultra Caramel Frappuccino and Triple Mocha Frappuccino. These additions mark the first time in years that Starbucks is adding new Frappuccinos to its permanent menu.
When compared to the Unicorn Frappuccino or even the recent Crystal Ball Frappuccino, the Ultra Caramel and Triple Mocha Frappuccinos look seriously understated. There are no neon colors or vibrant sprinkles but the drinks are still kicked up versions of Frappuccino favorites. Plus, both drinks feature a new ingredient: Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream.

The Ultra Caramel Frappuccino is a take on the classic Caramel Frappuccino. To make this beverage, your barista will start with a layer of the new Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream, which is just what it sounds like: whipped cream infused with cold brew, white chocolate, and dark caramel. Next up, a layer of dark caramel coffee Frappuccino. It is then finished with another generous dollop of Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream and a swirl of dark caramel sauce.
The new Triple Mocha Frappuccino is similar in that it has layers of the new Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream on the top and bottom. In the middle, however, this drink has a layer of mocha coffee Frappuccino, and it's finished with a drizzle of dark mocha sauce. Once it's fully constructed, you'll be drinking an elevated version of the classic Mocha Frappuccino.
We got to try the new Frappuccinos and both are rich and decadent enough to be enjoyed as a dessert. However, to us, the most exciting thing about their introductions is that Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream comes along with them. Starbucks jumped on the new cold brew-flavored food trend and ended up creating a topping that we actually thought we could eat a whole bowl of. Seriously, move over cold brew-flavored ice cream.
The velvety whipped cream has a nice balance of sweet and nutty flavors, and luckily, it's now part of Starbucks' permanent menu too. Starting today, the Sweet Cold Brew Whipped Cream can be added to any drink, hot of cold for 50 cents. It looks like focusing its attention away from gimmicky drinks is paying off for Starbucks — and for our taste buds.
