Exclusive! Athena Calderone’s Motel Makeover Makes For One Chic Staycation

We've already fallen in love with Athena Calderone for her incomparable interior-design taste. But now, thanks to her latest project, we're renewing our vows and are ready for the second honeymoon. You see, Calderone, along with partner John Rawlins, acclaimed visual artist Shantell Martin, expert carpenter Bruce Raubenheimer, and surfboard label Super Brand, has vowed to turn one room at Far Rockaway's PlayLand Motel into a stylish, sought-after destination. And of course, she's done just that.

Donating her time and services to help rehabilitate the Rockaway community and this renovated mainstay, Calderone has employed the skills of both Rawlins and Martin to create the perfect place to kick back after a long day hanging 10.
