So, yes, we sort of saw the shoe jewelry trend coming a while ago, but in preparation for the coming holiday season, we couldn't resist the impulse to revisit. We're still looking starry-eyed at the plethora of shoe accents lighting up the streets and recent runways. For their spring 2010 shows, Lanvin and Doo Ri's models donned chain-laden pumps that were equal parts punk and glamourous. Blogger and jewelry designer Kelly Framel (a.k.a. The Glamourai makes shoe jewels inspired by the Parisian fashion house that don't require a Lanvin budget. Newbie designer Christian Cota's garden-themed spring 2010 show had just a touch of edge courtesy of chain accessories from San Francisco brand Litter SF. Show stylist Lauren Santo Domingo discovered the sister-run brand while in the Bay. And, in honor of Interview Magazine's 40th anniversary, Dr. Martens sold four one-of-a-kind pairs of combat boots (dispensed from a vending machine!) with accoutrements from Subversive Jewelry designer Justin Guinta this past week at Miami's Art Basel. And if you're more tree hugger than chain gang, New York brand The 2 Bandits has navajo and ikat extras for your eco-conscious heart.
